Well, I think, rather then listing some reasons and asking if you agree, I'll write a small story that best sums it up.
I come back to Halo for the first time in a few months, to see if I can do any good. Last I checked I was a great player, but it had been a while, and I was rusty. So I click refresh and watch a significantly lesser number of severs appear. Last I checked there were thousands of people on, and now barely 1000. Ah well, plenty of fraggage to go around. I enter a CTF game of Bloodgulch, and am pleased to see Generic starting weapons, and only hogs'.
I am on red team, and immediatly am run over by an apparent 10 year old driving the rocket hog, with no gunner, on the opposing team. Blood stains his blue armor.
"pwned lol" is the message I recieve. I gave no response and waited for my respawn. I appeared atop the red base, gathered the frags and pistol ammuntion, and am pleased to see the sniper holding steady at it's usual spawn. I, of course, quickly grab it and take a scope of the area surrouding the portal exit. My attempted recon is cut short, however, because a marauding ally decides my weapon is to shiny to ignore, and he simply must have it. My broken back crumples to the floor as he screams "n00b!".
Rather than attacking him I simply wait for my respawn once again... This was waering on my nerves.
I spawn on the left side of red base and scramble up the ramp, collecting the ammo and grenades of my fallen corpse and hopping through the teleporter, not wishing to be rocketed, fuel rodded, run over, or betrayed again before I even had been around for more than ten seconds.
The other end of the portal was actually safer tan my own base, as it was empty. Quickly taking the hills to blue base in an attempt to capture their flag, a blue clad player hops down in front of me, AR blazing. However, he is about 50 feet away, so I made short work of him with the pistol.
"owned" he said. Puzzled, and in an attempt to confuse him just as much as he had confused me, I responced
"nice".
"wut?"
"well, if you had pwned me, you must have done a good job, because I didn't even know you had done it."
"weel duh n00b. you sux"
I cut off the response there, I was tired of losing brain cells. instead I continued torwards their base, still taking the hills. I was greeted by a hog on it's way to me.
A nicely placed frag blew the beast away, and it's passengers were flung, and I destroyed them in seconds with my pistol.
"wtf -blam!-!11" was his response.
Once again I did not respond, but continued torwards the base again, this time dodging a sniper. He was unprepared for returning fire, so he was dropped easily.
I looked over to the text area and realized the entire blue team seemed to think there was something amiss.
"aimbot", "h4x", "-blam!-", and "cheater" were the many responses to my simple use of the pistol, and apparently the host seemed to agree with them, because I found myself booted from the server only moments later.
That marked the end of the HaloPC experience for the day, as I was in no mood to continue playing with the 7-10 year olds inhabiting the Bloodgulch servers.
Of course not all servers are like this, but I am honestly sick of the ones that are. Yay for annoying 7 year olds.
