Because the mods are more strict on there. Plus, there's a lot of kids there, too.

OT: I don't hate it, but it could be better, given better effort, of course.

This, I don't get - this is an M-rated game... why are there kids playing it to be on the forums? Forget TOS for a moment, but if there are kids there does that mean that legit 15+ players take a backseat to their well being? Where the *F* is their parental supervision? Sorry, 343, but it's not up to you to manage other people's kids, that's why the ESRB exists.

M-rated games attract kids. That's no secret. Also, considering all the toys 343 have been pumping out, I bet they want the younger crowd.

Kinda off topic but:

What does the logo mean next to this thread mean?

I have never seen it before.

A Bungie employee (Achronos, with the golden text) has posted in the thread.
Let's be fair, it is yellow text. Every time a Bungie employee types on here they are displaying their hatred for us via the color yellow. Or the same color as piss. THEY ARE PISSING ON US!! Are they all R Kelly? It's possible.

I'd use those forums as well if the forums actually let me. There seems to be some sort of glitch with my account to do with verification (even though I used to post on Waypoint all the time), and now I'm not able to access it.

After the Bungie.net Halo forums were removed, all the idiots in the Reach board migrated to Waypoint. 'tis now a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Wait, the Halo forums on bungie.net were removed?

What trickery is this?

In unrelated news, applying the word "hate" to a web site that contains a lot of people who essentially love the same thing you do (I'm talking Halo; get your mind out of the gutter) seems rather stupid.

OHSWEETJESUSITSGODRUN!

But I once peeked on the Waypoint forums. Never bothered posting after making an account, the loading times are horrible and the site looked horrible. From what I've been told, the community has a bad rap as well so I haven't bothered visiting.

That's not a justification for why they are being allowed to play these games. And it's not a justification for why the mature audience get's sidelined.

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

I don't hate it that much, but I think this one time I got a small little detail wrong about something I was commenting on, and a user said to me: "Oh, don't worry, with your post count I wouldn't expect you to know anything about Halo."

Which pissed me off to no end.

Though, that still isn't as bad as the "My K/D is Higher than Yours" argument.

Actually, yes it is. When multiplayer is discussed, k/d is highly relevant. Post count on a select forum, however, is not.

So if I would've claimed Reach was a perfect game, without any flaws. People with lower k/d than me would've been "wrong" because of over a petty and useless stat as k/d?

Get off your high horse, "You have low post count" "Get higher k/d" and "You didn't have 50 in Halo 3" arguments are just idiotic.

The merits of an argument are only determined by the merits of an argument - k/d and post count sound like strawman arguments. Completely irrelevant.

I haven't really participated in that community much, but I've used the website a little bit, and I'm not a big fan of their design. Seems clunky to me, which I know a lot of people will disagree with, but I like some pretty basic website designs. Some parts of it - especially the service record - perform poorly at times, too.

The mods are 15x more strict than bnet's and it's filled with Halo 4 fanboys and former Reach-Forumers.

This is the internet Underdog, nobody treats anybody with any respect. It's all lies and a government conspiracy.

Can someone please explain why this appears to be the case for those who are unhappy with their experiences there? I know that there are thousands of people who are unhappy with their experiences here (I have the PM's to prove it) and I would assume that most of that disappointment stems from them expecting this place to be "just like this other site I visit and like".

I don't like the U.I of the site. It's clunky, slow, and doesn't look very aesthetically appealing. The mods seem...... like real dicks, I realize the "play nice" thing, but.... some of it is ridiculous. If you speak out against some stupid ideas or mechanics in Halo 4 in the slightest of the wrong way - you get a hefty ban.

That..... and the community is full of the people I rather not associate myself with.

I haven't been banned from there mind you. I just find B.net more attractive, and the trolls keep me company at night.

It requires one too many clicks..... and oh quad post.... oh my!

  • 11.13.2012 4:31 AM PDT

I will own everyone in Halo: Reach

I think it's about the mods. They ban you for critizicing their game.

mah twitter

I have posted there maybe three times. The only problem I have with the place is that it looks horrible and works even worse.

  • 11.13.2012 5:15 AM PDT

They're slow, and I don't like the layout. I don't hate them, I haven't spent enough time over there to form that opinion.

343's moderation mannerisms resulted in me returning Halo 4 today for a full refund - fortunately, I get special considerations at my local game store due to being a VIP customer and good friends with the owner. Special considerations being the "disc scratch warranty" (we got a big knife and put a nice big scratch in it). So 343 aren't getting my money, and they aren't selling that disc. And I won't be getting 5 or 6 now, either. I have considered acts like this to be overreactions in the past, considering they were done based solely on the fact that players didn't like the game they got. I did it because I was appalled at the treatment of paying customers. I haven't abused anyone, or even used foul language on their forums - a little sarcasm directed at a childish tantrum and bam, banhammer. Well screw them. I'll buy them pre-owned from JB Hi Fi eventually, just for the story.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

What makes Bungie.net better than 343i is you and the Bungie.net webteam actually care about the site, address issues, and made a great user-friendly UI that works on all browsers.

But, alas, the sites terrible UI and loading time is not the issue, the issue itself is with the moderation staff and admins.

They can't stand any negative feedback. You will get banned for criticizing Halo 4 on the forums if you do it long enough even if you are on topic and have valid reasons.

I like how the Bungie devs and webteam responds to issues and to their fans, most of the 343i employees have been known to go on Neogaf and tell people information and NEVER talk to anyone on their forums.

People here like to see what they have to do to get banned, and then complain when they get banned. The mods over there are actually fairly decent at determining who is doing this.

  • 11.13.2012 8:01 AM PDT

well, I like both, but the damn website doesnt work half the time. At least here the web developers know a damn thing about what they are doing.
