First off I'll say that i don't have high-speed internet. This is not because i choose to it is merely becuase DSL is not available in my area and cable is just to expensive, and yes i know how to work for something because i bought my Xbox 360 by myself. Also, this year I have to start paying for my soccer which is about $1000. So i really don't like you saying people aren't willing to work for it. Sometimes it just isn't possible.
So saying that, I agree that a map editor isn't a good idea. I play Warcraft III and there are millions of different maps with millions of different versions of each of those maps, and by the time people download the maps they can't wait for the game to start and just leave making waiting times extremely long.
Now about bots, i think bots would be a good idea for people like me who enjoy the multiplayer experience but can't play on live. I wouldn't allow bots in online play, BUT for single player, or LAN parties with very few people, bots could really make the game a lot more enjoyable.
So in summary: map-maker is a bad idea, and bots are good but in single player and LAN parties only.
