Subject: Update on Bungie's next game in the upcoming mailsack?

Watch out. If I post in your thread, chances are it'll die. I've been cursed, and if I kill your thread, I'm sorry.

So I looked at my calendar, and noticed that on this coming Friday that it will have been exactly 2 years since Bungie will have released Reach, and should have therefore been working on their new game for about 2 years.

Also, we keep being teased with "soon" whenever we ask about Bungie's new IP. I think that this would make the perfect time to release some information.

We've been given next to no details about their next game, and it only seems right that after this long that they release information about the next 10 years of their studio on the anniversary of the previous 10 that really got them to where they are today.

Thoughts?

There's no way Nate Hawbaker's favorite hero is Alan Stuart

ALAN IS A BEAUTIFUL MAN!

Doubt it. Come back next year and then we'll talk.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I don't think anything big will happen, but we may get a little treat.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Probably not. All indications are that we will not hear anything about the new title until sometime in 2013. Though that's not a guarantee, it's probably not worth expecting any information anytime soon just because it's been a long time.

But we can always hope :-)

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Do you think they would just do it in a random weekly update? Or do you think they would tease us a bit leading up to it? Just asking, im not sure what to expect.

Bungie have been working on their new IP for like 4 years or more. Since 2007 ( when they released Halo 3) and got independent.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

I think that you may be assigning far too much significance to the anniversary (or anniversaries) of past events as they relate to current events.

It's a very human thing to do. We attach significance to "another year since ______" but for everything and everyone but us, it's just "today".

My dogs don't know when it's their birthday (provided my wife can restrain from celebrating it), my car doesn't know that it is another year older, and unless they are marking X's on trees like condemned criminals, none of the animals around me even know that today is Tuesday.

Time, days, weeks, years and the significance of them is all on us, a projection of our own minds. If one attempts to truly grasp the meaning of "soon", then one stops looking at the clock, at the calendar and starts looking around at what today holds for us.

Think on this as you return to your meditation, young Padawan and we will speak of it again. Soon.

But master, are you saying its wrong to celebrate or remember certain events on certain days? Are you saying the opening day of hunting season doesn't matter? My world has been shattered.

Each day has its own significance, but do not be overcome by your desire and instinct to find patterns that repeat themselves and lose sight of the unique and special aspect of each new event as it unfolds.

"Soon" carries much meaning. It shows us that our waiting will be rewarded, but that the date is uncertain. That there is more importance in the quality of the moment, than the time of the moment.
