Do you, by chance, know where whores go?

I am here today to talk about title bar favourtism. It has been a topic that has been disccused many times over the years, and basically is the idea that Moderators are more lenient on people with "older" title bars. If one is mythic or heroic, a mod might let your post slide, even if it breaks the rules.

While it is not proven, and clearly does not work all the time, there is no doubt that certain moderators do hold favouritism.

A perfect example would be in a thread that happened today, with the mod known by most as "Foman".

You see that? That is your username, it is right at the top of your post, eliminating the need to sign posts.

So don't.
You must be new here. In fact, you must be new to forums in general.

Instead of derailing threads by telling other, more experienced users how to post, how about you shut the -blam!- up and participate in the discussion?

Move along.

The person Foman quoted was replying to somebody who always signs his name after all of his posts. This "signature guy" also happens to be a mythic member.

In Foman's reply, he implies that because somebody has been on this website longer, they are "superior" to others. They have more knowledge on how to post on this website, and apparently should not be challenged on their posting behaviours.

Isn't this a perfect example of favouritism?

Additionally, Foman also has "derailed" the thread. He might have avoided this had he posting something on-topic. Another Moderator, known as "Bobcast", also posted something off-topic, but he wasn't be-rated by Foman.

For my last point, I will quote the rules of the website.

- Respect your fellow members, or at least tolerate them publicly. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated, even if they probably deserve it.

Foman clearly was not respecting that person, as he told him to "shut the -blam!- up". While one might expect this from a regular user, Foman is a moderator. He broke the very rules he is supposed to enforce.

So, the Bungie.net community, what do you think of this behaviour?

No disrespect op, but your kind of being nit picky cry baby.

Mythics get banned constantly. Look in the mythic group and you wont find very many blue bars.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that you were banned recently and you are suffering from symptoms of Butthurtocaites. Mythic members do get banned when they cross the line. I've been banned multiple times.

He told that person to shut the -blam!- up because he was being disrespectful to another user which isn't cool.

It is quite impossible to prove all moderators do this.

However, it is quite clear that Foman does. Based on this, and the other examples I pointed out, I believe that Foman is not fit to be a Moderator.

And to the person above me: Foman should have warned him, not told him to "shut the -blam!- up". That is not behaviour fitting the title of Forum Ninja.

Then instead of calling him out in the public forums you should PM him or Achronos with your issue.

DeeJ's Challenge

He was not out of line in any way. The poster he was addressing was simply trying to derail the thread by calling out a specific user and trying to "correct" his posting behavior even though everyone who knows yorkie understands that he signs his posts.

Foman was not implying that because yorkie has "been around longer" he has some kind of privilege.

  • 09.11.2012 2:07 PM PDT

Foman telling the guy to "shut the -blam!- up" seems to be going a bit far, but I don't see where he claimed higher titled members are superior. The point he was making was that lots of people sign their posts, and the guy was derailing the thread by drawing attention to it.

Even if we just consider Foman, one example of negative behavior towards another member of the site does not constitute a warrant to generalize about his behavior to all members.

Oh and OP, you have an awesome username.

So I can be told to "shut the -blam!- up"? or be ignored? This is a much easier solution, as it will show the community of Bungie that Foman is not right for the job.

Did you not read his reply? He said "Instead of derailing threads by telling other, more experienced users how to post.."

He is implying that others should not challenge more "experienced" users on their posting behaviours.

He was standing up for the other poster. Seems like a good authority to me. If you really disagree with the comment then take it up with the officials, which you can find if you take a look at HFCS FAQ, not the community.

The length of his service as a forum ninja means nothing to me. I am clearly not being butthurt over nothing, as there are people in that thread that agree with me.

I agree, when I saw that post of Foman cursing someone out it was kind of uneccessary. But I don't agree that he should be stripped from his Ninja Powers. Foman and many of the other Ninjas are quite awesome at what they do.

But unfortunatly you're going to have to play nice because we have no rights lol. The Superintendant would be dissapoint though, Foman didn't keep it clean.

In the example you gave I feel he was posting more as a community member than a mod. If he had banned someone for that then I would consider that bad judgment but I don't see a problem in him voicing his opinions like that.

And besides more experienced members generally do know more about forum etiquette than a newer member. And I'm speaking as a newer member here.
