Would Halo 3, being 5 year old netcode, benefit from a matchmaking system similar to what is used in the current CoD system which implements a lag compensator. For those of you unfamiliar, it renders some of the connection imbalance so that the host does not have a gratuitous, overwhelming advantage as opposed to lesser connections within the game. One disadvantage is that in CoD it can sometimes make the host pretty much a non factor.
The reason I ask is, in my Halo 3 experience I was always on the short end of the connection scale. It was no one's fault, it was just I had the best isp available to me at that time, which was poor compared to those who I played with regularly. It made the game virtually unplayable for me after 2 years of frustration. I loved the game and comrade-re, but being a liability to my team in the game was always a thorn in my side. (Please note that this was not an all the time situation, just more often than not from my perspective.)
I just wondered if anyone else ever thought it would be worth while. I would rather get back together and play Halo 3 than Reach any given day (I detest what they did to that game).
This is not an argument for or against Halo >=/=< CoD, only the possible value of modifying the MM system.
