Hi. I have been trying countless times to get a server going with my friend who is on a Mac. We are both running the latest patches (1.07 for me, 1.5.2 for him) but we each get different server lists and cannot find a server that one of us has hosted. We have tried Direct IP, but that does not yield any results either. I am beginning to doubt if it is actually possible, but I have read somewhere (I think on the MacSoft site) that you can "battle your friends on Mac or PC". Also, on this site, it says that Mac users can join the Bungie dedicated servers. Does this still apply? Me and my friend each tried to join one, but both had errors thrown at us.

It said that my client was older than the server (is it running CE?) and for him it kept retrying and could not connect. Do we need to change the ports in network settings or something? Oh well, I would just appreciate any help or advice on this matter.

I do have Halo CE....what I mean is, is the Bungie server running CE and is that why it won't let me join it on original Halo with 1.07? Ok I guess my question has been answered...abandon all hope? At least I tried.

Macs and PCs play just fine together. I'm on a Mac and all the servers I go on are PC. Here's the link for the latest Mac update http://www.macsoftgames.com/products/halo/support/MacSoft-Hal o-Support.html

Could also be filter settings if you are not seeing each other in the gamespy lobby. Can anyone else see you? It might be a firewall or router issue.

Welcome to the Maw!

Yes, Macs and PCs can coexist perfectly in Halo, while they're trying to kill each other. Try SimonJester753's suggestions, and talk to your Mac friend about getting an account on bungie.net, and hanging out with us!

Oh well that is good news...hmm by Gamepsy Lobby do you mean inside the game or on Gamespy Arcade? Yes it may be a firewall or router issue....but people are able to join my games so maybe theres something wrong on his end.

So as long as we both have the latest patches for our OS, it should work? I am certain we get different server lists...do we need to change any of the port numbers in Network Settings? Still very confusing....I attempted to join one of those official Bungie servers via Direct IP and it said I had an older version, but for him it worked!

I was getting just a few servers in my list until I downloaded the latest patch– then I got a lot more. It's probably the patch for the Mac or his router/firewall. Can he get on other servers?

By gamespy, I meant in the game, not the arcade.

im afraid im gonna have to confiscate your testicles.

What are you, the Cyber police? lol.

Yeah I have tried that with a friend and had problems, though as it turned out, we found out he had a different connection and we were both getting different servers, but I forgot what he did, he did something in settings on halo and was able to see my server. Very sorry I do not know where he went to do that.

That sounds like filter settings. If you set your filters for a lower ping than your friend has, you can't join his server. Try setting the filters to allow the most amount of servers– full servers, empty servers, high ping etc.
