Subject: Congratulations Recon!

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

Alive and married. Been dodging hurricanes for 3 weeks now. Dodging and hunkering down during. Thanks for noticing.

Frances went thru, and just as we got power back, we headed up to the Tennessee/North Carolina area (ahead of Ivan) to get married and honeymoon. Ivan flooded that whole area and caused death and destruction. We then had to cut the trip short to get back to the house in order to prepare for Jeanne. Just got the power back last night (thank god for laptops and generators).

Congatualtions! You certainly got off to an interesting start. Sorry about the honeymoon getting cut short. Oh yeah, and sorry about those hurricane things too :-)
Good luck!

Thank you un gato! I appreciate it, and so does my wife.

I interrupted her playing Halo PC online (she had just gotten a "killtacular") to tell her that there were well wishes for us on Bungie's website. She almost coughed up her soda!

Thanks for that, it takes a lot to break her concentration.

Lol, no problem. What name does she use on Halo PC? It'd be even funnier if someone were to well-wish from there.

I have to admit, I don't have Halo PC. I'm sure that someone else will though.

You know, I should have thought of that. While the Septagon is probably the safest of the forums, it still isn't perfect...
Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right?

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Congrats to you, recon.

And I have Halo for the mac and saw your wife's name, but I haven't played it online in months because the mac version sucks. So she doesn't have to worry about a player named Halo53 in pink armor getting killed repeatedly.

Hey mods, would this be in the wrong forum? Because as I see it, The Septagon is the Bungie community forum, and the Bungie community is made up of it's fans and forum goers. So what's the official word?

Kudos to Recon on getting married!

One question, how does your wife feel about being married to the 10th Mjolnir cyborg?

If it weren't for the generosity of women.... our species would have died out long ago.

I'll keep that in mind.
And you're being too hard on yourself. You're posts tend to be clever, not parade-rainers. And comparing you to a wet blanket never even crossed my mind.
Then again, not much does.

I am once again astounded by how slowly this forum moves compared to the others. Please mods, could we have an official response on whether or not this is mis-forumed?

I'm going to take the lack of a response to actually be the response. I am thinking that it's a "as long as we don't make a habit of posts to (or about) a single member of the community The Septagon will survive." At least that is me projecting a mod reply, which if I review my record, is absolutely horrid for accuracy!

Well, this was a topic that people obviously cared about enough to respond to. I think that qualifies it under the rules. It's both directed at you and at notifying everyone else.
But we still won't know until we have an official judgement. Seeing as how a few topics above this one had been locked, I'd assume that means that they let it through, but we still need a mods judgement on it.

This isn't too much of a breach of rules to warrant lockage. However, maybe think about posting it in The Flood next time. :)

Congrats Recon. Best of luck for the future, and I hope your marriage brings much happiness in the years to come.

And with that, I leave you all. A very fond farewell for these next few weeks. Remember to play nice: I don't want to come back to find that Sigma has banned half of B.net. :)

I think the lack of locking may have just a little to do with the type of people posting in it as well.

Considerate enough to ask and mature enough not to whine if it did get locked or moved. I would like it if more of the Forums here were like The Septagon as this is the one Forum here on B.Net that doesn't aggrivate me on a daily basis, I think Yoozel and Maka are getting irritated, because the only time I IM them, it's for a ill-concieved or aggrivating thread.

As for the forum moving slowly? I like to think that the Septagon regulars simply don't make frivolous posts. (Possibly another reason this thread was never locked) That way, if there is something new here, you can be 80% sure it's worth reading. The other 20% are generally new to the forum and don't know the proper place to post.

The spammers avoid it because we will simply ignore them, which is exactly what they don't want. When the moderators come here they are rarely in a bad mood, because there is rarely a thread that requires their personal attention.

So commendations and thanks to all of the Septagon regulars, as this thread has lent supporting evidence to my theory.

Oh yeah, Congrats Recon, I'll bet you're glad that Hurricane Season's almost over!
