I think that they should improve the ragdoll physics even more to make it more realistic and more funnier. As this is their last game "so they say for now", Bungie should do all it can to keep us entertained with it. Like with the Warthog for example. If someone were to get run over by the warthog, they should go flying through the windshield or rolling over the top of the car. Or if you run over a dead body the car should bump up as if u had just ran over a dead deer on the country road. Or that their body is on the hood of the Warthog and every movement effects the bodies position. It'd seem a bit more harder to get used to (since Halo 2 had no damage from falling from high distances) but maybe if you jump out of a Banshee at the top of the map u might break ur legs there. Or at least take some damage. You aren't superman. Also your bones should break and bend in funny ways to look at. Is anybody with me or is this just a crappy idea?

The physics will be greatly improved, but ragdoll may be too... ermm... last generation gaming? My bet is they'll come up with something bigger and better. But having realtime geometry for dead characters and stuff would be sweet.

The biggest problem with current-gen Ragdoll is death postures and settling to the ground. While falling, it looks great, but the coolness is shattered when a leg bends in a direction it's totally not supposed to go and the head wiggles like a bobblehead until coming to rest.

Yes, they need a new system. I actually had an elite's head get stuck in the grate right in front of the zanzibar base. Legs stickin straight up. It was the funniest halo moment I've ever had, but it was unrealistic.

You're legs aren't going to break, even if they could. People need to learn that that crap doesn't fit into gameplay.

Also, if you'd read the books, you know that SPARTAN's bones are virtually, unbreakable.

Who said anything about legs being broke? Anyway... "virtually" means "almost" as in they still can be. Their fall from the pelican in First Strike only resulted in a few borken ribs and some need for bio-foam (for the surviors that is). So I doubt that bones can be broken in multiplayer.

you need air dude.............

With the power of the Xbox 360 and the right engine and tools, bungie will improve the physics, sounds, graphics, gameplay, lifespan over its predessor. Don't worry, ragdoll physics will improved so much, theres a year left for Halo 3 until its released and many new tool may come. Just wait and see until the game gets in your hands. It will be great i promise.

His bones are reinforced with titanium (spellcheck?). Plus if you read first strike, most of the spartans can withstand a parasail drop (w/o parasail) at speeds below sound.

the havok physics engine would be nice to have...

  • 06.23.2006 9:38 AM PDT

It's a cool idea, but totally irrelevant to gamesplay in MP. They should concern themselves with things that make gameplay smoother and more advanced.

  • 06.23.2006 10:25 AM PDT

Halo's a hell of a drug.

I just hope they don't make it as exagerated as like Hitman where a gun shot can cause someone to fly threw the air. I like the windshield idea.

I would like to see it where if you run someone over with the hog, maybe sometimes their body can get caught on the chasis and be dragged around.

if they do rag-doll they should have some good collision detection, i noticed in Halo2 sometimes my body would blow up.

They should make the MC look like he weighs 1000 LBS, and make him clunk to the ground, not float.

Although i do love when sniping, how much it looks like a deer getting blasted with a round to the head..

i think that they should make the engine like source, and for everyone thats played cs or halflife, they will know what im talking about. i think that its the closest thing to realism that i have ever witnessed in a game.

Personally, i really hate ragdoll physics. They are unrealistic and just plain dumb. I feel we need to have programmed death animations again, they looked cooler, and were more fluid.

You don't know much about physics do you? In order to pick a man off the ground with a firearm it would have to kick you the same distance with the recoil. With every action is an equal and oposite reaction.
