Subject: Are you happy with the aesthetics's of B.net?

I used to be indecisive, but now i'm not sure.

Aesthetically, I think the place is pretty neat. It's easy to look at.
However I've always thought the place needs a little bit more color.
Sure coup helps, but not many users posses it anymore.
I'd say if they ever do change anything on the site, I would keep the same layout but substitute some already available addons like coup into the actual site.
Now currently coup isn't really an easy set up, it would have to be simplified.
The features of coup should stay relatively the same, users able to disable coups and report ones deemed offensive.

"We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds...'
I suppose we all thought that one way or another."
- J. Robert Oppenheimer

That's why I use Stylish to mix things up a bit.

I like it, however I think its time it got a facelift, I am expecting a new white glass glossy effect in the new hawtness.. or something on those lines anyway.

Edit; be cool to have this bar back.

I love it.
One of the easiest site to navigate through, and when Halo was their's the stats and dowloads were quite user friendly.

But the searchbar... That's a different story.

I like the way things look. Maybe on Bungie.next your wishes will come true, I guess we'll see.

The next time we substantially update bungie.net, Coup is going to get completely hosed. I'm curious to see what happens.

Not any time soon, though.

I'm sure people will just update coup. But I'm curious also.

Coup, as much as I love it, is the myspace of Bungie.net. You're giving a bunch of people who don't know how to color coordinate the ability to make the entirety of their posts into anything they please.

Let's just keep it running as a user generated app. That way, official time and resources aren't being dumped into trying to moderate people's crappy customizations?

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

This is one the best looking forums on the web, to be honest.

And it doesn't take very long to load.

I don't see a reason to be upset over an option.

You can always, you know, block.

I agree...If I recall there was something in one of the chapters about coup being deactivated or something...I can't recall the reason.

I do hope that one day Bungie might create some sort of thing where users can attain the privilege to obtain their own avatar of choosing that is not created from this site...not that the ones made for here are ugly....just me thinking out loud.

Making something optional doesn't justify it.

Let's look at it this way:
A long time ago, in a Bungie.net version far, far away, we had !visible signatures. With links! And colored text! Quite often, people's signatures would be longer than their posts.

So, the ability to change your text color was axed. Some of that is credit to the dwindling maturity of many forum goers during the Halo 2 rush. But that's just a theory.

Then the signatures would only be visible when you'd hover over someone's avatar. Which was kinda cool, IMHO. So, why were signatures gradually hidden more and more? Because, from what I can tell, the webteam likes this place nice and tidy. Signatures took up a lot of real estate here. It helped make things more uniform.

On a more colorful note, titles have always been candidates for getting the axe, too. My pretty blue bar might not be with us for the next big update.

So, if we're aiming for uniformity, for the sake of moving the focus on what's said by users, and not how much attention their myspace-style customizations can get, why would this be even a good idea?

What you really want is official support for a coup-style system. And guess what? Coup works just as well! Which is why I make pretty customizations and then turn it off.

Because it's optional. And you have the option to use that app. You don't have the option for an official system because, while it's not really my place to say this, making it and sustaining it with webteam time and resources seems quite silly.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

Oh come on, you know those lime green and hot pink flashing bars and text capture you! It's almost like to get locked into it, and you just stare and stare... You become all tingly, and you start to shake a little from excitement... I've even heard people will faint because of the amount of swag pouring out.

OT: yes OP, this site is amazing in it's design, quite possibly the best one I've used. But fear not as in time, the update will come, and like a thunderbolt, awesomeness is gonna strike.... Or at least... Something like that.
