It is not necessary to have a sun, the forerunners could simply project artificial light.
Just looking at this you can see that the light comming out of the shell is too strong to be projected by a sun unless its really close to it. And we know that it isnt really close to it during the halo 3 ending.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

Maybe it's not a shield world . . .

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

Gah, four sgt Johnsons staring a me... :/

It is probably a Forerunner lamp (kind of a boring solution, but none the less a solution). However, Requiem comes with a lot of other interesting questions to discuss.

It could be that the forerunners built sections to cover the star that rotate around it simulating this.

Or maybe the star is artificial and can be controlled in some manner.

Maybe the forerunners had some way of bending light to simulate darkness, as in the star is still shining brightly but part of the light coming from it is being directed elsewhere.

Or maybe it's all three.

It's something to explore when we get the game.

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

Or maybe they hooked up the lights to a dimmer.

Requiem is supposed to be even bigger than the Onyx MDS!

Whaaaaaa-

Cripes. That's one big planet.

Surely it would also make the place absolutely freezing.

<(-_-)> Teh mokey is not amused

How was there day and night on Halo? How was there day and night on the ark? It's probably all simulated via some advanced forerunner thingymajig.

The Halo ring rotated, so not every habitable surface was getting light from the system's sun at the same time.

Also the shadows of the planet that the Halo ring (any of the rings, really...) revolved around would give a night effect, as well as the travel of that planet's moon.

In a Shield World (Dyson Sphere), the entire star is encircled. There's nothing to block the sunlight from any angle, there for even if the Dyson Sphere rotated, there'd be nothing big enough to create a night effect.

That's what some dude in the Forerunner ViDoc said, but after having seen this screenshot, I doubt that's the case... Unless it somehow--like Onyx--contains various or just a part within slipspace, or whatever.

It's a variation of a shield world. It's not like the one from GoO.
For some reason I read that as "Gears of Onyx"

1. The Eurogamer demo was the 3rd level at rally point charlie
2. the very same level has an achievement for carrying an UNSC weapon to the end
3. ???
4. I think it's likely that the 3rd level will have marines and therefore have a daylight section. It's also possible that this is when we return to the FuD for more ammo.
