No, this isn't a remembrance topic like Goat's, discuss whether you expected Reach to be in the state which it is in 2 years earlier.

14/9/2012 here.

After playing the beta, to be honest, I didn't really expect much out of it. I mean Bloom, armor lock, slow movement speed, horrible jetpack, no battle rifle, I mean what the hell was wrong with Bungie! C'MON SAGE

I picked up Reach three months after release, and finally got online seven months after release.

I believe that if default Reach Slayer no TU on Sword Base was added to the MLG circuit, the pros would find a way to make it competitive, and all the games would be within 10 kills. I think that the gameplay would be seriously dumbed down, and it wouldn't play like Halo at all, more like a boxing game, but I think it would be interesting.

To be honest I expected Reach to last a lot longer, mainly because Halo 4 wasn't announced until 2011.

I can't believe it has already been two years... I can't believe Halo 4 is coming out soon... I can't believe the new generation console is on the horizon... I can't believe it's not butter!

I enjoyed the beta, and played 100 games of invasion.

but i have only played 200 games of invasion since final release.

The beta went for 1 week, and I played 100 games of invasion.

The final release of the game has been out for nearly 2 years, and i have only played 200 games of invasion.

i like invasion, but biggest flaw for it, that there is only 3 maps designed for it.

AL was reach's biggest problem. This and sword block were the only 2 things that needed to be fixed with the TU.

Bloom is OK, could had been done better, with all bullets shooting to the edger of the recticle instead of been random.

But REACH has still been alot of fun to play. Arena flopped, and with no real ranking system.

Lets hope Halo 4, can improve on this, so far it is looking good.

With every previous Halo, we have had 3 years before the next title was released.

With Halo 4, we only get 2 years for REACH, but as long as Halo 4 is a much better improved game, it will be a good thing.

I only hope Halo 4, is like Halo 3 was to halo 2.

What I mean was Halo 2 was fantastic, and Halo 3 was pretty much the same game with better graphics, and everything that was wrong with Halo 2, was fixed for Halo 3. The only main difference is that Halo 3 had equipment.

If Halo 4, is REACH improved which is what it looks like. Then we should all be happy.

The addition of Perks will be the main difference, im still don't know if this will be great or crap. I hope your AA are a once off, or have a very slow recharge time.

REACH, there was really no risk in using AA. Because if you stuffed it up, you could use it in 30 seconds, or just respawn with it.

In Halo 3, using Equipment wisley or poorly could change the entire game outcome. Equipment had alot of risk/reward. You don't have this in REACH with your AA.

I hope Halo 4, is more like Halo 3 regarding this.

I hope you know what I mean.

True that, but remember, Bungie also worked on Destiny and ODST at the same time as Reach, or cut into the cycle, so it had less time to make, while 343i has apparently been working on Halo 4 since 2009-2012, so 3 years.

Equipment in Halo 3 was mostly useless or incredibly annoying. The risk factor wasn't there either, you used it and if it wasn't effective, doesn't matter, keep on BRing.

I'd say that if Halo CE/2 powerups were longer lasting and in more risky map locations, they would have been a far better system for Halo 3 to have added equipment on.

~ Videogames are my favorite videogames ~

Wasn't expecting a switch off between game companies, which I felt kind of shifted things downwards since it created confusion and different priorities/views on how things should be.

I know I'm not satisfied compared to when things started.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

It has always been good for me; I can avoid the playlists that have armor-lockers, I can choose not to play in the MLG playlist, and I can get a perfection or two.

My only problem with it right now isn't related to the game at all, unless Reach has a trueskill system.

Honestly, despite the game's flaws, I've quite enjoyed Reach. It's still doing fairly well on the Live Activity Charts too.

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

I only get on and play a little Doubles or Arena.

I'm new to competitive Halo and Halo itself (Reach being my first video game ever actually). Message me if you want to play;

Reach: MLG, Arena, Doubles, BTB and customs.
Halo 3: Ranked MM and customs.

Also I have every Halo title and all of its DLC on the Xbox 360.

Most people didn't understand the poor game mechanics during the beta (or even at launch) until someone explained it to them, as was the case for me.

No matter how obvious it seems now that Reach would've failed, actually many more people were optimistic, despite how they feel at the moment.

The community was in a better state when more people were clueless. lol

Can't believe it's been 2 years. I preferred the way Bungie left Reach, not the way 343i has changed it so much. I still play it all the time, but damn...

I thought it'd be a little more populated at this point, to be honest, however I must say I still have no issues ever finding a game at any time of day.

I may play it less now due to my own time contraints, but I love it every bit as much as I did on day one.

  • 09.16.2012 12:24 PM PDT

The sublime is disappointingly elusive.

I loved Reach. I honestly didn't see anything wrong with it. Armor Lock was the slightest thorn in my side, but it was easy to get over it.

/bump to express opinion

Reach has effectively killed any desire this long time Halo fan has in playing any current Halo Games. I'm waiting for H4
