Um... they are going to fire off the Halos.

That would end it pretty quick, no?

I don't think so, making too many sequals isn't a good thing. After a while it gets old so more than likely bungie will just end it with 3.

the elites are going to join with the humans, and the rest of the races are going to see the truth, and the prophets will all be killed....

or at least, thats my theory....

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

i don't think everyone was paying the best attention at the end of halo 2. halo 2 ending left off with a feeling that not all of the covenant is at war with us. i'm not saying that the elites and hunters and grunts have allied themselves with humans or anything, but it seems like the campaign of "the great journey" is just the prophet of truths own personal crusade more than an actual covnant goal. which is why the brutes cling to him so closely, there too dumb to realize it.

I personally think the movie will show the fall of Reach.

I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.

Bungie said you were going to finish all the fights you started in Halo:CE. They didnt say you were going to finish the war, which started before Halo:CE.

If you think about it the Human-Covenant war is at it's boiling point just before the events of Halo 2. So how is Bungie going to make it so we destroy all of the Covenant in one game? I have the feeling Bungie is going to leave us with another cliffhanger like ending. I'm sure the story will pretty much be wrapped up but i have this feeling Bungie is not going to end the war. and I hate cliffhanger endings. except Halo 2's it's ok if it's from Bungie

Who's to say we destroy all of the Covenant?

Well, Earth is going to be conquered and the Covenant is on its last legs with the civil war and the loss of High Charity with Truth going to activate the Ark, its all going to end pretty soon

Well, maybe there will be another explosion that wipes out like thousands of flood and covenant like in first game, so the covenant army starts to crumble and the human race makes a come back.

I agree with krc1989, the covenant forces are crumbuling under the flood and the lost of their most high charity doesnt make things much better for the covenant, also the hunters elites and grunts are against the brutes jakels and prophets im thinkin that the hunter/elite side will win the civil war and thats the side that is kind of an ally with the humans. So its gonna end in halo 3 and i bet its gonna be a longer game so its gonna have more missions thus it should end in halo 3.

Halo 3 will end with a new alliance formed by Humans and Elites, Grunts, Hunters, and the other alien races that figure out that Truth is indeed a big fat liar. I doubt the Covenant will be destroyed, specially seen as Humans have allied themselves with the separatists, thus a new alliance has been formed from desperation. I'm almost 100% sure that Halo 3 will end like this:

After all the remaining rings are destroyed along with the Flood and the revelation to all the Covenant that their Great Journey was false, everythings comes to an end, and both humans and aliens make peace. Later, they each return to their own home world to rebuild, helping each other to restore their worlds to their former glory while making amends to avoid any future conflict.

THE END

well....this is what i think. bungie would not end one of their greatest ( if not greatest ) games this early. they would make more money if they make a halo 4

Play Legendary or don't play at all!
I have beaten the games on Legendary
[paradox] 99% of the people who claim to have beat Halo/Halo 2 haven't. If you are one of the 1% that has, copy this into your signature and if you dont you haven't beat it. [/paradox]

DRUGS SUCK!!!

No, they said it themselves, it's gonna be all over with this game. And to the person who posted before the person I'm replying to, WTF dude? That ending is way too freakin' happy! The way things are going, and knowing the Bungie guys, something really dark is going to happen. I know that very little will come with the end of the Human-Covenant war other than ceasefire between the two sides.

Just about every sci-fi story has a cheesy ending. A fine example is Star Wars. After all the sacrifices, all the did in every movie minus the prequel trilogy was have some sort of party. Whatever dark events may happen, they will likely happen amid the game, not in the ending, which will be as happy and cheesy as it can get. However, I'm just guessing based on the common setup of most sci-fi stories (film, games, and books alike), so it could turn really grim in the end, but who knows? Bungie, and Bungie alone until Halo 3 is released.
