There's no way Nate Hawbaker's favorite hero is Alan Stuart

Yes it has been, I was out looking at houses all day with my wife and trying very hard to keep up with the hints and stay one step ahead, which is very hard when you're trying to check the forums PMs on your phone and trace stuff with paper and ruler while convincing your wife that you're paying attention while house shopping....

XD, seems legit.

Also, 500th comment FTW. Let's finish this.

So the data set of pictures and their relevance has been noted, as has the astra stuff, so all that is left would have to be the remaining numbers/letters, yes? I'm trying to keep up.

Short answer: Yes. Impressive. It's pretty cool going back to look at where we were and where we are now.

Have the numbers been linked to letters in any way? 1=A, 2=B, etc. Maybe the 4 at the top of the septagon is the final letter.

You're welcome to try it. There have been many variations of where we are now, I'm just diagnosing and experimenting at the 'mo.

Alright, I counted the number of each number on the septagon. This is what I found:

1: 7
2: 7
3: 7
4: 8 (counting the top one)
5: 7
6: 8
7: 7
Very interesting.

EDIT: I did miss one of the 7s, but I also recounted the 4s and 6s, and the number is right. For some reason, there is one extra 4 and 6.

Even if the proposed method doesn't generate something it could possibly be used later. These puzzles have been known to have multiple layers. And I feel like the numbers -> images is only the first.

This was done earlier It may not really help but might help you analyze if you need to keep track of letters and numbers. I forget who did it but you can scroll back (it was not me though so I'm not trying to take credit for something I didn't do)

Thanks. I edited my original post. I had missed one of the 7s.

I feel like there's something in the picture that could help us, repetition if you will, but I haven't been able to crack it yet.

Step 1: Bungie
Step 2: Apple
Step 3: Halo
Step 4: Chinese food (General Sol's chicken?)
Step 5: Ling Ling (ring ring?)
Step 6: Coup (1st syllable of cuckoo)
Step 7: Red sun?

This may be the right order but is this the right answer?

1: Bungie
2: Apple
3: Halo
4: Chinese food
5: Ling Ling
6: Coup
7: 7th column

I'm not sure about 5 or 6 but I am about 1,2,3,4 and 7

Maybe it is some sort of code. With the letters that were left over from earlier: ELTTMGWRE, I added the two extra letters I could link with the two extra numbers: D & F, making it ELTTMGWREDF. Maybe a word could be made out of it now.

Try an unscrambler. I've had little success with scramblers today.

There may be some other pattern, but earlier while floundering around I noticed that the number of letters minus the number of numbers = the length of peraudaciaadastra. That is if there were a 1-to-1 cancellation between the numbers and the letters. But, even all of my attempts to draw lines from numbers to images I haven't found a method such that every number always cancels a single letter and end up with randoms left. Usually most/all of the phrase is left but still a few random characters too....

Something interesting I noticed. In the Q&A section of the mail sack, someone had asked if DeeJ had played Halo 4. Look for the question, look at the response, and see if you notice something with what he answered and the pictures.

Too easy, he wouldn't throw hints out there. Only Missing Link would.

My name is Mark Mezzetta and I was a beta tester for Bungie's game Oni and Take Two's game Myth 3: The Wolf Age.

How long did it take you to make this puzzle?

This puzzle is based upon a puzzle I'd created a long time ago (but never used) for a different contest. As a result, the concept just took a little refinement to base it off of something else; actually putting it together took me... maybe two hours or so?

Hey David, would it be possible for you to create a puzzle which somehow is associated to your guy's next game (without giving anything away) and have it for a weekly challenge? Perhaps something like the geomancy symbols we received on Bungie Day? That would be so rad to pass the time.

  • 09.15.2012 7:20 PM PDT

I think the puzzle is self contained this week. Its just using what you know about Bungie and general thoughts on the layout of the problem given.

It's a lot better than hexagons.

Or another ilovebees! I was far too young to know about the first one but would love to take part in such an adventure. Although from what I know about arrival.bungie.org they could have hints/puzzles out already and people just haven't found them..... food for thought

I still think that this video contains some more clues.

  • 09.15.2012 7:31 PM PDT

HAHA, as much as I love that video (and secretly hoped that Banana Phone implied that this puzzle would reveal their collaboration with Raffi on their next game). He only posted that video to inform people who were not aware that the opening/catchy line in that song is the Ring, ring, ring, ring.... which is similar to Ling-Ling

Those are all 7 steps of Bungies plan for world domination. I haven't read through everything so far. I'm kinda just jumping in and checking progress. But here is a link in case you missed out. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/7_Steps_to_World_Domination

I've been thinking about it, and realistically, I think that one last hint would be very helpful. However, I do think that ML is not responding or giving hints because we are really close to piecing it together. Maybe we are just looking too hard into the path to "Per Audacia Ad Astra." Together, as a community, we can go into the stars. Good night.
