I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure that Bungie'll figure it out. Also, Halo 2 is a work-in-progress, so they might bring back the health bar.

maybe a shield re-generator (not oversheild)...

there is still health, it takes 2-3 shots to kill someone once their sheilds go... it's more realistic this way...

I like the idea of no health bars... Like I heard on the "Opa Ages" Forums: Halo 2 Impressions page he saw no huge difference.. I also read when the shield is gone you have about 1 bar but you cant see it

  • 05.16.2004 9:39 PM PDT

bah

Where did it say no health bar? I didn't read that anywhere. You are reading something non-official. Bungie would not take away the health. The MC's suit isn't just a shield, it's armor too. And armor can take a few hits before it goes caput. Watch the 20 second video. The Elite clearly gets a few rounds in him after his shield goes down but before he dies. There is armor, and plenty of it.

id have to agree, why would they so drastically change the game anyway, im sure they would want to keep such an important part like that the same as in Halo 1

Ummm...guys watch the demo video again. There is no health meter, just the shield meter. This is not something that was read somewhere...we can all see it. I am not sure how I feel about this. I would have to play it to see. I never really pay attention to my health meter anyway so I don't think this will make a difference.

ive said to a bunch of people that the solid blue box kinda-of behind the shiled bar is going to change color when ur hit......you wont have the exact health bar like in Halo 1 with the 7 or so health bars, but i think that that may be what the health bar is

I said that already. It takes a few shots once your shields go.

At this stage there is no health meter though... you still have health, but nothing to measure it with.

Yeah, take a good look at the videos again. The Health/Shield bar is smaller and looks different. It is by no means indicative of there being "no" health bar in the game.
Chances are, Bungie had to redesign it in order to save processing space.

Pay attention to what GOD halo fan is saying. Go look at Opa Ages videos that they put up. You will notice in there that when his shield go down...he dies within the next one or two shots. There is no health. There is no bar behind the shield bar. When the shield bar goes..the whole thing starts blinking...like in Halo 1 and then one or two shots later you are dead. Why si this such a hard topic?

ok i just went to a site

http://opa-ages.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10241

probably everyone in these forums have seen it, but it it says that indeed there is no health bar, but it does take 2 to 3 shots to die, the person also suprisely said that this did not affect play, and he did not notice it

Everyone who thinks that we made this up, where have you been all weekend?
On friday night some guy posted that he played halo 2 at fanfest, at first no one believed him, but he was proven correct, he told us that there is no health bar. Read the gamespy multiplayer review, "New shield/health system". People have been talking about it all weekend and most of us have decided that it is true, there will be no health bar! Many people dont like the idea, but i for one do.
1)Makes for faster paced games (4 vs 4 blood gulch could get a little slow and lonely at times)
2) Never again, will someone steal your kill leaving you on crap health for your next fight (Your shield will regenerate putting you back to full health)
3)No need to fight over medi packs.
4)More true to the books, in the books master chief did not have a health bar, with no shield a head shot could kill him. In halo 2 the game is slightly more like the books, with your shield gone your out of there.

The only bad point i can see is -Plasma Pistol- what will become of it, the scrapheap, or will it still be in the game, i cant see it being in the game it may be a bit to powerfull. One shot takes of an enemies shield, 3 or 4 shots kills him, i thin that may be a bit too powerfull. Although in the 20 second ign video and elite is killed in about 2 seconds of continous smg fire, so maybe its not all that powerfull.

it's basically the same as it is in Halo 1, only there is a different graphical representaiton. It takes 2 or 3 shots to kill you after your sheilds go. How is that any different then it was in Halo 1?

because in halo 1, you wouldn't get hit twice with the AR and die.

And that wont be happening in halo 2 either, why? Because there is no assault rifle, plus the smg has more stopping power than an assault rifle, i read that somewhere cant remeber where?
