So because the USA army has soldiers that joke around now,is a sign that every other army does that or has?
And it will be so in the future.

I agree with the topic creator.

First, yes, the Marines with the thick accents can be annoying. It gives away that Marine characters are still being used over and over. And what's wrong with the guy who did Mendoza's voice in Halo CE? He has a accent, but not an 'annoying if you hear it over and over that you want to kill him'. I feel Marines should have more diversity, but at the same time keep their accents out or at least find people with a slight accent.

Hopefully, Marine AI will be signifcantly better by Halo 3. In Halo 2, they were a horrible bunch. They drive Warthogs like they're drunk, don't know how to drive a Scorpion, don't know how to use a Rocket Launcher properly, stand in the line of fire(the whole taking cover thing was just for show), have quite a bit of trouble killing anything other than straggling Grunts and Jackals, and it could go on forever...

Marine dialogue. If you ask me, I think voice-overs for Marines should include several thousand or so dialogue that I call combat dialogue. Instead of cracking the same jokes over and over, maybe they'd be more efficient if they learn to work as a team. By combat dialogue, I mean Marines who react accordingly to the enemy AI movements(not in-game scripted, it's all random yet accordingly so)-such as calling for heavy supression, pointing out enemy snipers, radio in recon, radio in air strikes, take cover, flank the enemy, status reports, securing areas, being pinned down, on the move, pulling back, falling back, holding position, requesting medical support, awaiting/sending/requesting friendly (armor) support, defensive, offensive, enemy fire zones, spotting enemy armor/artillery, incoming enemies, etc. Crack jokes when the fighting's over, or blend combat dialogues and wisecracks...

OK so u want marines to mourn people's deaths and get more upset...usually, when people are emotional, they're prone to more mistakes and stuff...

No, sorry, it wasn't a shot at you, it was more of a response to this.

Here is a little Halo advice: Don't rely on that Marines. If you do, then play the game on easy and work your way up.

Dont post in my topic again. You have no idea what anyone here is talking about.

There are barely any whites, blacks, russians, french, british, etc.........I think a cool german accent would be cool, Anold style.......the russians are pretty cool, from CoD2, they knew what was goin down and were pissed.

Damn snipers!!!

I have now read the books...

your stupid makes my brain sad

after reading this whole thread i can tell none of you have ever been any where near any "real combat".....i mean d-day....korea....vietnam... or middle east for that matter....nore have i....but several members of my family were in normandy, or pilots in nam. ive talked to them about it.....poeple who have exp. true war dont like to talk to much about it, but from what i know, there is nothing at all humorus about it......nobody gets clever or funny when people are dieing left and right......that -blam!- is for the movies an video games....if you dont beleive that?........go find some one who has been in that type of combat, and ask..."hey when your buddys were all getting shot to death and blown up by mortars, did anyone have any funny remarks about it?"....let me know how it turns out...

that said i like it the way it is....its a game and i guess the humor kina keeps it in perspective for me...

make a army just of swedish people...

  • 06.23.2006 2:51 PM PDT

Another thing to think about is would these accents really be around in the 2550's? Earth as joined as a single force and humanity has turned into "a single race" sort of speak. Maybe the Mexicans are the only ones who held on to their true identities?

Ok, now tell me what "the mariens need to be more serious in halo 3" has to do with tactics

Well if Marines were more serious, they would implement more tactics. All of those games above have "serious" Marines. So their saying if you want serious Marines, go play a different game. Which I agree with.

You better be kidding...
So just because we want a more realistic A.I like with the marines we should play another game?
Perhaps the graphic is fine for you in Halo2.
If you want better pre-order Crysis instead, thats your logic now...

He said more serious, not more realistic. I agree with better A.I., but don't turn the game into Ghost Recon. I don't believe the Marines were ever ment to be the strong force you want them to be. In fact, how I play, the Marines have little purpose. I don't USE them for anything, they are just there for "looks" sort of speak.

I don't even understand what that means. Yes, the graphis in Halo 2 were fine for me. Since I know the capibilities of the Xbox, I belive they were pushed to the limit. Now that the 360 is out I would like to see improved graphisc, obviously.

If I want better pre-order Crysis instead. How about i pre-order Halo 3?

I liked the black guy, who when u took his gun said "Im revoking your OG status" stuff like that adds flavor to a game. every game has marines yelling crap like attack here, move out to this position BLAH BLAH BLAH. Yes i know u need commands, but if u read the books, the spartans used hand signals and didnt say what they were doing over the coms for obvious reasons whos to say marines dont do that too. And also id be telling jokes the whole time to keep from taking a dump in my pants when a gimongous alien holding a rocketlauncher attacks me. I also liked it how the marines in CE would cheer when u made a sweet jump in a hog. Things like this add to the games uniqueness and character

Not when your in the middle of a fight and shooting elites and your buddys are dieing right next to you. Thats not a time to make jokes now is it?

Marines don't joke when someone dies. When a marine dies, they sit next to the body and say something like, "He/She's not going to make it." or "You've killed him!"

So, they joke at the right time. Hey, would you rather they run around going "Oh no. We're all going to die. Help! Life sucks." like the Grunts?!
