lol who ever said there was only one prophet left, if you had watched the halo cutscenes you would have seen threres hundreds of them, we have only seen 2 die.... and someone else said brutes r 2 dumb to control the ships, no they arent, in the last few levels of halo 2, cortana tells us the brute and elite controlled ships are fighting eachover. the reason the big ships didnt shoot master chief is because they probably cant see him, however i reckon the phantom and banshees might be the arbiter or something, otherwise they would have probably shot MC cos they could defiNately see him.

For what? The very exsitence of what the covenat had been fighting for, for the last few 10'000 years was about to be discovered. Honestly, if you spent your entire exsitence, living breathing and hungering for it, there is no man that can get in your way a realizing what you, and your dad, and his dads, dads, great, great, great, great, great, great.....(get my drift?) grandfather died for.

In ages past the hand of time
Has hindered our migration,
But it cannot slow the will of faith
In times of confrontation.
Let all those worthy walk the path
Where we shall all soon meet.
For what once was lost, now is found
And our journey is complete.

Alright everybody seems to believe that all of the council members that looked like the three prophets are prophets as well...

im not dismissing your ideas but i myself just believed that just because they are the same species, that doesnt necessarily mean that they are all prophets.

kind of like the Arbitor. Just because hes an elite that doesnt make all elites arbitors. Like ive said, im not telling anyone theyre wrong, i just see it from a different perspective

Well in the game they do say that the High Council was murdered by the Brutes.
If that means the Elites and Minor Prophets, it means there is no order in the Covenant except for Truth or some Minor Prophets that did not get murdered. (sorry for the run on)

There are also a number of lesser prophets, such as Pity, Disdain, Wisdom, Fear, Sorrow, Supposition, and Grief, that form the prophetic branch of the Councils of Deed and Doctrine, Concordance and Masters, along with the Elites. These Prophets vote and make decisions, but ultimate power is held by the three High Prophets.

But,i would assume they would have to make a voting or something beofre 2 other get in power,so i guess "Truth" will be in power the whole HALO3 game.

I am...whimsical today.

Probably because they feel Elites are noble and brave warriors as themself, who also seem to be nice leaders.
The Elites were the ones who defeated the Hunters. The Hunters were superior in ground engagements, but when faced with orbital bombardment they surrendered. They have respect for the Elites (and only the Elites) because they are superior warriors.

Apocalypse3210
and as far as the post goes, the covenant on earth do not yet know about the civil war because of how far away High Charity was and the speed of photons, ect. But, as soon as the info gets out...................
Word of the 'Brute's treachery'/'Elite's weakness' has probably been broadcast around the Covenant by both sides. Possibly using slip-space messages, or actual jumps. If the Forerunner ship can make it to Earth, then so can a communique.

Just as the Elites have a higher status, so do the Prophets. So far as we know Prophet is the name of the species. Hierarchs is used to define the 3 'big-daddy's, if you will :)

Hey everyone we cant forget about the minor prophets couldnt they take the place of mercy and regret and truth if he were to die in halo 3. But if uve seen the beggining movie of halo 2 and read the books we know theres minor prophets out there and their probably just as capable to lead as mercy and regret were, even though they were older.

Seeing all those capital ships in the trailer just made me think-'are they being controlled by the brutes or the elites?' Who is it that really conquered earth because the Covenant isnt even the Covenant any more-its split into two factions and theres only one prophet left. Something to think about...

They're probably controlled by Brutes sence the Elites no longer follow the Prophets and belive in the Great Journey.

obviously the elites because they werent firing at cheif.

Well, if you were about to do something you have waited all your life, would you stop to squash one tiny bug?

The reason why they didn't fire at master chief is because they didn't care, they knew there was nothing he could do, even if he had a Rocket launcher, he would only take out one or two or three if he was lucky, thats why they didn't fire at him.

By the end of Halo 2, it is obvious that all the Elites have gone to war against the Brutes and the Prophets for assassinating the Elite Higherarcs (I think that is how it is spelled), and that the Hunters and Grunts (who have a history bitter history with the Prophets) have sided with the Elites against the Prophets, Brutes, Drones and Jackals. Given how the Covenant, though a group of several races, is organized very individually, all the Elites across the Covenant fleet may as well have began to fight for their cause. Now that the Elites know the truth about the purpose of the rings, and of the betrayal of the Prophets, the Covenant-Human War is over, while the Covenant Civil War begins amidst all the chaos. As of the end of Halo 2, it appears that the Humans, Elites, Grunts, and Hunters will become allies to stop Truth and his Brutes aided by the Drones, and Jackals. New aliens maybe intrudeced to increase the Brutes in numbers. Elite, Hunter and Grunt loyalists may still fight on the side of the Prophets, though in small numbers.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

There is only one major prophet left. There are countless minor ones, though. You see them in Halo 2 and read about them in the books...anyways, I'm guessing earth was screwed over way before the Civil War began. The Brutes most likely slaughtered the elites before the ones fighting on High Charity and Halo could get the word out about the Brute's betrayal. They did it to the Elite Council. They probably did it to the Elites on earth also.

iit would most likly to be the brutes side cause the prophet kicked the elites out and the elites wouldn't have that many ships ( without prophet's help)

halo 3 WILL have battles netween the 2 sides of the covenant, then MAYBE the humans will help the elites, grunts and hunters against the other side like high charity

Truth is the last major prophet, there are lots of minor prophets. Brutes are suppose to be stronger than Elites so ships with mixed crewes would most likely be taken by Brutes. Also just because they dont shoot at the Chief doesnt meen they are Elites. It looks like they are much to busy to notice a small green spot mixed in with the wreckage and desert. They look pretty eager to reach the forerunner thing until it starts to open and then all ships start to brake off and run.

Overall I think most of the civil war will happen where there are more elites, not to say there wont be any on earth but it looks like Truth and the brutes will have controll around there.
