in halo 2 there is what is known as a host advantage. you do not experiance any latency because what happens on your xbox is then sent to every one eles. lets say bob is host of the game and jim is playing againts bob, but jim is 3,000 miles away. when jim shoots at bobs head, there is a slight delay and bob has the "chance" to move out of the way. what i am proposing is that bungie implement a difernt system, you can still have a "host" but under this new system if jim gets a "lock"(where the aimer turns red) and he fires, making contact on his screen, it should hit. his xbox should say tell bobs host xbox that bob just lost X amount of health due to jim getting a lock and fireing.

that is how halo 2 worked, so i dont think that that is the way to fix the problem....

if you go to a custom game on swords, have both players look at each other and have one person move back until one of the reticles aren't red. the host's will still be red.
so I dont think it has anything to do with what you said.

ARE YOU FREAKING STUPID?!?!?!?! WHY WOULD BUNGIE MAKE THE HOST HAVE AN ADVANTAGE?!?!!
being host means that you are the center of the connections between all the players. you experience no lag because YOU are the host. everybody else is NOT "sent" lag, they have a bad connection to you and/or everybody else, so they lag. the host seems to have an advantage because every player that complains about it has a bad connection. everybody else who doesn't notice it have a good connection.

when does that really matter? when you've reached the point where you have no life and all you do is play halo 2 online all day long?

Host advantage is inherent to any game where one xbox is used as the central source. Games like Rainbow Six have it like this. Battlefield 2 does not since they are hosted on EA servers.

You can't get rid of it unless Bungie hosts their own servers.

it matters just as much as any other host advantage
especially in a game of swords cuz the host will have a longer range and it affects the gameplay a lot.

Send me a group invite, and I shall return a harsh reply. Do not invite me to groups. I do not accept. Don't believe me? Look at the list of groups I'm in right now. Consider this your warning.

And EA servers have terrible lag. At least on Need for Speed Underground 2. And the server gets full at about 300 people. Of course, the servers used to be much better, but they cut them back when the game lost its hype and popularity.

Calm down. Everyone has had different experiences apparently. There's lots of reasons for this, from your total bandwidth, your average latency, and the number of xboxes on your LAN. Not to mention improperly configured routers, which also causes a significant amount of lag.

I could be wrong, but it has been my experience that the Host advantage has already been eliminated or at least minimized. It has also been my experience that the host gets a HORRIBLE handicap about every 4 games or so, and usually quits because of it, sending everyone to blue screen.

Bungie has been very frugal with information regarding Halo's networking for good reason, so I wouldn't expect Bungie to respond to any direct suggestions. The best you can do is to explain the specific problems you've encountered AFTER troubleshooting your end first. If enough people have the same issue, then I'm sure Bungie would address it.

I played the multiplayer demo of Batlefield 2 for the 360 and was AMAZED!!! There wasn't any cheating and I could actually kill people consistently. Now I know why.

The lag on EA servers weren't a problem with the servers, there was a bug in the game that caused jumpy gameplay. It was fixed within a month and they are pretty good now. Also, they have regional filters so you can play with people in your area too. I can connect with people from EST so it cuts lag down. Europeans can play with other Europeans, and not lag the game for Americans. It's much better IMO.

What will not solve anything.

The only way to solve the host advatage is the
use of deticated servers, where the "host" would
be Bungie, which is expensive, but bungie
can afford it.

In high definition baby!

I hate lag.
