Am I the only one that feels it it so obvious that the two entities on the planet are going to most likely be defensive bias and offensive bias that are controlling the Promethean knights.

Mendicant bias is an Ai that the forerunners created to destroy the flood, the gravemind somehow manipulated him, and took control of him.

offensive bias was created to counter offensive bias.

Also I feel the knights sound like they operate like a hive-mind ( being controlled by 1 conscious) similar to the flood. In other words a AI is controlling them.

Offensive/Mendicant bias was also the one/ones talking to us in Halo 3 terminals. :)

Interesting thought, Maybe it was both of them talking to us in the terminals.

"Offensive Bias is a Forerunner Artificial intelligence that was created to stop the rampant A.I. 05-032 Mendicant Bias from reaching Installation 00 to stop the Array sequence. Even though Mendicant Bias' Fleet outnumbered Offensive Bias' by 2183:5, Offensive Bias was designed specifically to effectively counter and exploit Mendicant's rampant actions. During the battle, the Halo Array was fired which, aside from killing all sentient life in the galaxy, disabled the percentage of Mendicant's fleet which were biological. After the Halos fired, the advantage turned Offensive Bias's way, outnumbering Mendicant Bias's fleet 6:1. What happened to Offensive Bias after this success is not specified. "

1. What's Defensive Bias?
2. The Promethean Knights are A.I's.

You must be talking about Medicant Bias...
Offensive Bias was created to stop the rampant Medicant Bias.

Medicant Bias is on the Ark and Offensive Bias is probably dead. There's no way they could be controlling the Promethean Knights.

Sadly, Retcon is 343's repertoire at this point.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I thought both the Dreadnoughts and the Arks fragments of Mendicant Bias were destroyed when the Halo fired...?

We still (Or I) don't know what happened to Offensive Bias...

At the end of Halo 3 it is also shown that Medicant Bias has turned good again.

A) No, it isn't...

B) Even if it was, you still couldn't use that to support your claim...

At this point, we know nothing about the function or origin of the Knights beyond fighting the Flood. It's heavily implied that the Composer is involved with this, so I very much doubt that your idea will come to fruition.

Why would Mendicant Bias be fighting Offensive Bias, if he's followed the path of redemption? Unless Offensive Bias has gone rampant himself which would be, whilst ironic, unlikely.

And no, Mendicant Bias is most likely not on the Ark. It's probably he's hitched a ride with Cortana, as alluded to in Legends and Iris.

Ok, I'm just gonna skim over what other people have posted real quick and sum it up in one post, then post what I'm fairly certain is going on.

The reason as to why Mendicant Bias and Offensive Bias duking it out is unrealistic is because Mendicant has walked the path of redemption for his (it's?) actions, and is also fragmented, with part of him on High Charity and part existing in the Terminals in Halo 3. Offensive Bias is most likely dead, as he was designed as a "I'm going to die, so let's make it crowded in hell" kind of tactic. If he isn't dead, then rampancy is a high possibility, as most (possibly all but I'm not certain) forerunner AI's are rampant.

As for my explanation of what is going on, watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N-CRrP9xjQ

At 7:03 a symbol appears, and slowly begins to rotate. take this symbol at it's initial position, and compare it to this symbol
http://ascendantjustice.com/files/voc/followup/didact.png

That is an extremely close match, isn't it? It is the symbol of the Didact, the forerunner responsible for the creation of the Halo Array. the Didact is often referred to as a "Human Hater" by the people who analyze the lore, possibly due to the fact that his lover is the Librarian, a forerunner who was trapped away from a safe location upon the firing of the Halos due to her study of the Human race.

The turning of the symbol could also be interpreted as the change in personality of the Didact. A more aggressive change.

It is my belief that the Didact, an AI that is based off of the neural pathways of the Didact, or an AI that mimics the Didact is the leader of the Prometheans, due to the Didact being a military presence among the Forerunners, The Didact's symbol appearing in an official trailer, and the Didact being, as a whole, considered anti-Human by lore oriented fans, possibly giving him reason to hate the "Reclaimer", or to have an ulterior motive against the chosen race to be "Reclaimer".

Just my thoughts, feel free to argue it, but I will give a rebuttal to the best of my knowledge.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Yeah...the Didact (at least in Primordium/Cryptum was not a human hater, or else he would have vaporized chakas and riser. He MAY be angry due to the death of his wife, but we don't know that yet, we need to wait.

Ok, human hating may be a strong term. But, then again, Those particular books are pre death of Librarian, and my topic proposes that the anti human behavior would be a result of her death

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

That would be awesome, but we just have to wait and see.

It is the symbol of the Didact, the forerunner responsible for the creation of the Halo Array.

Faber, the Master Builder, is identified as the creator of the Halo Array. The Didact was the primary opponent to Faber's plan and instead came up with the idea for the Shield Worlds.

My mistake, thank you for correcting me on this. However the Didact was still the Commander of all military forces, so while not making the halos, perhaps he created the Prometheans as an alternative to the giant reset button on evolution?
