Can we have a way to "sage" post in threads? You know, being able to reply to them, but not bump them?

Yes, I know exactly what each and every one of you are thinking. Please don't think I'm trying to post nonsense for lulz. This is a feature that I wouldn't mind having, and it would help for threads that I want to reply to (like girl threads and threads discussing something stupid like "Gangnam Style" or "swag"), yet not send right back up to the top of the first page.

Gangnam Style is amazing therefore your idea is irrelevant.

I don't know why we would have something like this for individual users to turn on and off, since topics are bumped so that threads people want to discuss (even stupid ones) stay at the top of the page. It's like natural selection for topics!

This would be a good feature to have forum wide on certain forums that are more based on when something was posted than replies, like the classifieds or the news.

Decent idea but I doubt it will happen. people would just sage on threads they don't want to support.

This works on 4chan because people are anonymous so bias is almost completely eliminated.

It shouldn't really be a feature for the OPs to turn on or off in their threads, but for individual users when they post.

Why would we have Sage post in threads? He would just nerf them.

Why would OPs or individual poster be given that power? No serious OP would want their post to fall off the first page faster, and there is no point in not having a post bump a thread in a normal discussion based forum. Even if it is a silly topic, the fact that you had something to add to the discussion means that there (should be) discussion value, or at least makes it more likely that other people would want to discuss the same thing.

This should be something that is employed in forums like the classifieds that are not based on discussion, so no threads should be bumped.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Or, you could like, not reply.

I was expecting something more me-centric. Sad.

O well.

Fun fact, there is a way to Sage a thread right now. Don't reply to it. It drops that thread all the way to the bottom of the page.

Isn't that what private off-topic groups are for? To discuss "stupid" things?

I don't really see this happening, but hey, what idea actually gets through to Bungie?

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Active 9/1/11, Heroic 12/25/12

"Saging" threads doesn't encourage discussion, I don't see why it should be a feature on this site.

Why? So people can respond to a thread on page 7 in a way that breaks the rules and not get caught? Or so you can respond to an obvious spam thread without being noticed for it?

Seriously, there is no good use for sage....Unless sage nerfs the sage...

If you want to discuss a topic, then surely allowing people to see that topic would help foster that discussion?

Why would you reply to a topic that you don't advocate the discussion of, ergo, are willing to bump? I'm reminded of the phrase, "lead by example".

And you can easily inform a user why his/her post break the rules, through private messages, or the report button. Although, I would like to note that some "forum cops" seem to not understand the rules themselves, some of them "forum copping" right off of a ban, some of them condemning a completely just post.
