Despite being so advanced, a single magnum bullet to the helmet goes straight through (without a shield)and gets a headshot, or in Kats case 1 needle from a needle rifle goes straight through the shield and the armour (although this isn't techniqly a bullet).

Gameplay isn't canon, so the magnum headshot isn't accurate. As for Kat, she had no shields when she was shot and those needles are more powerful than pistol rounds.

Apparently, it's not very bulletproof at all.

LOL
Excuse me, what?
Needles are less powerfull than pistol rounds.
Play some Halo, you'll know what i'm talking about.

You obviously didn't read my post properly. Gameplay mechanics are not accurate representations of the actual functionality of something in canon, or like I said previously, "gameplay isn't canon".

If anyone wants to get together and play some Marathon Durandal on the xbox contact me and we can work something out.

I think they make him weak so its more of a challenge in game
This is the best answer.

Yea, best answer by far. Gameplay in no way reflects cannon.

The metal bits are bullet-resistant. The black bodysuit can be pierced by a Flood's puny little tentacles.

The flood's strength is amplified once in a combat form. A human form was able to send Sergeant Johnson flying across a good 10-15 meters with a single swipe of his "tentacle"

I was talking about that Infection Form in "The Flood".

This makes a fairly decent point as i remember an infection form almost getting Spartan 117 after he dropped his guard and was saved by Cortana.

Leads me to believe either the Bodysuit itself under the armour is not as strong as it could be, OR the flood has impressive strength even while in an infection Form.

Its 2 layers the outside titanium A battle plates and then there is a carbon fiber kevllar weaved bodysuit under with hydrostatic gell under the bodysuit.
the armor is impervios to SMALL arms fire (note: this is not counting Armor Piercing rounds)

The Flood infectors (be them the infection forms we know of, or something else) would need to have super-sharp tendrils, to pierce the armor of the advanced civilizations they've come across over the years, like the Forerunners. Flood are master adapters, one getting through the Chief's tiatanium nanocomposite body-suit is no surprise.

Five exclamations marks are a good signifier of an insane mind. As is trying to hide from Death in an airtight room. Silly wizard.

Smaller bullets like pistols and SMGs wouldn't do much, but bigger guns would definitely do more than scratch the paint. Ghosts of Onyx had the team held hostage by those neck devices and confetti makers, so maybe confetti makers could pierce the armor.

It was the inhibitor devices that was keeping them down, not the assault rifles.

And one managed to beat chief down with a wrench. But what we're talking about here are the infection forms. And I never actually thought of this before. One of them latched on to him when the combat form was beating him with a wrench and pierced right through the armour on his neck. That's got to be one hell of a sharp needle.

Was that the same instance where Cortana released the energy of his shield and managed to fry the thing before it infected him?

Near the neck? I don't think that black part is AS strong as the green.

It can adapt all it want, it still isn't making those puny tendrils any stronger.

Yes. The pistol (M6D) fires 50 caliber (by 12.7mm) Semi-Armor Piercing High Explosive rounds. Those are going to pack a heck of a punch.

This is the world of fiction, where anything is possible, even a giant green beast closing a black hole with his bare hands.

If a Flood infector can pierce nancomposite titanium armor, than that's what he can do, am I right?

If i remember from The Flood didn't Guilty Spark mention that Spartan-117 was wearing a class 2 suit or something to that effect and the standard for the forerunners fighting the flood was i THINK a class 12(whatever that means)So to that degree i dont think the body suit would cause it much delay or issues.

NOTE: i do not currently have the book beside me so the class 2 and class 12 numbers are pulled from the air and my memory but i think it was stated by Sparks that it was six times more powerful then the Spartan suits.
