Okay, Bungie Community. You asked for the spotlight. Don't melt in its rays. Below are questions submitted by the developers who spend as much time wondering about you as you do about them.

Suggested Guidelines:
Please post in this thread only once. Failure to honor this request will result in forfeiture of your privilege to participate (or worse). I would recommend only answering the questions that really speak to you. Don't force this. I'll be looking for humor or sage wisdom that could benefit us all. And, more than a sentence or two will be heavily edited or ignored completely. No monologing.

Have a ball! Oh, and QUOTE the questions you are answering.

The zombie apocalypse is upon us. Most of humanity has already fallen to the hordes of flesh-eaters. You have survived because of your ingenuity, cat-like reflexes, and dashing good looks. As you travel in search of food, you find a grizzled old man who offers to give you a powerful weapon. Now is your chance to make a difference in this battle against the undead. You can choose any one weapon, real or fictional. What do you choose and why?

Battlefield Modern Combat 2 is the first FPS that I played online. I used to played that game for hours and hours. I loved every part of it. From the insane bugs/glitches to coming out top in front of all your friends/enemies.

Speaking of that.......
Video games could add in a last obtacle forge option for kinect adventure added into a race system game. "Force 'em on YOUR track."

And an adventure on kinect that brings me back to mario.
I'm A, Going to WIN!
It reads better that way. Because getting the A and making the grade rules.
Just like me to say something like that.
Ruling usually is.
Kinda like owning the door on assault with my bro.
Glad I kept being my wonderfull self.
And I want a setup for flight obstacles to be something more useable. Superman does'nt fly all dedede with Lois on his feet and Spiderman swings just as gracefull with Mary. It's great in episode 7 when Lukes kids fly off using the force, its epic, legendary even. Everyone knows what we like the most controlls cannon. Just like reach controlls cannon in strange and marvelous ways and only time ninjas understand why at all. [It's the story of the game you play.]
I know how and why perfectly myself.
GOD its good to be me.
Why? A prophet wins with words.
One time online I gave somone a place in the kingdom of heaven.
Used words then too.
That's my share on this Sack.

How and when did you first fall in love with Halo?In the summer of 2002 at a friend's house. At first I wasn't really that interested, but after playing a couple of 4 person FFA games on Blood Gulch I started really enjoying it. The Plasma Grenade and randomly driving the Warthog around are probably large factors in this.

Do you think the game community could be doing more to cut down on harassment or unsporting behavior in general?I don't think so. With the anonymity that comes with online gaming, people can act like jerks without many consequences. Although with features like muting, blocking communications and submitting player reviews, it's not a massive problem anyway in my opinion. The community have the tools to deal with harassment and unsporting behaviour, they just need to use them.

Is there one game (other than Halo) that you can point to that really hooked you and turned you into a gamer? What was it and why?Probably Sonic the Hedgehog. I played it at a very early age (around 2 years old) and even though I wasn't very good at it, for obvious reasons, it just amazed me that I was controlling this blue hedgehog. The fact that I grew up playing that game, likely contributes to why I'm a gamer today.

Something that doesn't need ammo, or a power source, but won't break or need repair...ability to control the force.

What do you think is missing from video games right now?
Parental control. Parents don't tell their kids no enough anymore, so you end up with an online community of underaged kids playing games they shouldn't be.

Which movie would you most like to play as a video game? (please submit your answer in the form of link to an iconic image from that movie)
This.
Make a true survival game with a twist. If you have seen the movie, you know which twist I am talking about.

Do you think the game community could be doing more to cut down on harassment or unsporting behavior in general?

I think a big first step would be to find a way to cut down on anonymity without sacrificing privacy. Another option would be to elect certain members of the PSN community and XBL community to moderate in some way, though the idea of it sounds very complicated.

What's the best game in your opinion - in terms of value/dollars ratio as opposed to raw quality - that came out this year?
Dragon's Dogma, hands down. For me, it was an exciting new rpg experience, plus it has hours and hours of post-game that I haven't seen in other titles before.

If you could easily teach a thousand people one idea, what would it be?

I guess a sense of purpose beyond reaching the next checkpoint or gaining credits and/or rank . I'd like to know that I was having an actual affect upon, or helping to shape the world I'm in for better or worse. (Not just alternate endings either, but more of an evolving virtual landscape)

What is the most memorable positive experience you had with a stranger while gaming online?

Playing "Born to Run" by The Boss over and over again with some other dude on Guitar Hero. Pretty sure there were a few "wobbly pops" going down on both ends. Good times and lots of laughs!

ooga booga boooh

Is there one game (other than Halo) that you can point to that really hooked you and turned you into a gamer? What was it and why?
Star Wars: Knight of The Old Republic. When I first got a xbox back in the mid 2000's, I was watching my friends play WoW, and liked the idea of character leveling. The plot twists totally blew me away, and I loved the different features reminiscent of the movies. (Familiar planets, choosing dark vs. light side)

Do you think the game community could be doing more to cut down on harassment or unsporting behavior in general?

Yes, but there is no institution other than the home environment that can change that. I think to bring about the change people desire, you'd have to change the people. I'm, unfortunately, not so sure it can be done. All we can really do in change our own group we interact with; how we choose to act, and who we choose to play with.

How and when did you fall in love with Halo?
When I got my xbox, Halo was the first game I got. I instantly fell in love with everything about Chief; this silent, brave figure who jumps towards whatever comes his way. The music, the level design; it was everything a teenage boy could want in a game at that time. I fell in love with it again when I picked up Halo 3 back in the summer of 2008. My friend got me online with him for a few games, and I've been hooked to it since.

If you could easily teach a thousand people one idea, what would it be?
Education is the single best tool we can globally equip people with to bring them out of unfortuitousness situations; be it political change, economic reform or equality, education can singularly change people.
What do you think is missing from video games right now?
I think a very large majority of the problem is what is there. There is too far large of an emphasis on the online interaction. In a sense, multiplayer interaction is wonderful. On the other hand, too many developers are relying on multiplayer to make their games great. Some games, especially Skyrim for me, changed that. Bethesda brought out a plot driven story which allowed players to become immersed in the world of Skyrim, rather than worrying about how high up on the leader boards they are, and so on.

Which movie would you most like to play as a video game? (please submit your answer in the form of link to an iconic image from that movie)
Either Inglorious Bastards, which I imagine would be comparable to Conker's Bad Fur Day for the N64; very crude, abnormal humor. I'd imagine many, many parents would be offended by it.

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

The zombie apocalypse is upon us. Most of humanity has already fallen to the hordes of flesh-eaters. You have survived because of your ingenuity, cat-like reflexes, and dashing good looks. As you travel in search of food, you find a grizzled old man who offers to give you a powerful weapon. Now is your chance to make a difference in this battle against the undead. You can choose any one weapon, real or fictional. What do you choose and why?
A machete. I would also have to grow a mustache for the occasion.

What is the most memorable positive experience you had with a stranger while gaming online?
Meeting my old clan leader. One day, I joined a random friend's custom game of zombies in Halo 3. Out of 15 other players, I had a conversation with the person who would eventually become my clan leader and long-time friend. Years later, we were still playing gamebattles and other tournaments, he taught me most of what I know about competitive gaming. To this day, we still text eachother and we plan on playing Halo 4 together. It's funny how you can meet such a good friend from the most random occurrences.

Is there one game (other than Halo) that you can point to that really hooked you and turned you into a gamer? What was it and why?
Megaman. Back in the PS1 days, I would spend so much time at my friend's house playing Megaman. Megaman was almost like a childhood hero. Some people wanted to be a firefighter when they grew up, some wanted to be a doctor, I wanted to be Megaman. Megaman, Megaman X, and Megaman Legends are some of the greatest video game series of all time.
Also Odd World: Munch's Oddysee.

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

What do you think is missing from video games right now?Longevity based on merit, as opposed to gaming economy. For me Halo 2 was an amazing multiplayer experience because the majority played purely for fun. The more modern emphasis on ranking up and unlocking various items forces player populations into matchmaking and hurts the community to some degree, as time spent in custom games can be perceived as wasted.
This has not entirely gone from gaming, but it certainly seems a direction the industry has been moving in for quite some time.

Edit: I guess it is easier to appeal to materialism than make a good game.

Optimus Prime. Not only can he turn into a truck, tear zombies apart with me sat on his shoulder, but even come out with great philosophical quotes.

What do you think is missing from video games right now?Innovation. No one's made 'the next step'. Maybe there isn't one, maybe this is as far as video games will go? I sure hope it isn't, and that someone, somewhere is going to have the idea which will take us into the next era of gaming.

Top Five MCs? (That stands for Master of Ceremonies, not Master Chief. Please answer in the form of five YouTube links.)Ali G / Sacha Baron-Cohen
Eminem
The Lonely Island
JAY-Z
Dizzee Rascal.

How and when did you first fall in love with Halo?I was left alone with my cousin's Xbox and Halo CE. I'd never played a first person shooter before, and couldn't work out how to crouch to get under a door on the Pillar of Autumn. I spent around half an hour trying to get to the bridge, and never succeeded - but I enjoyed it!

Which movie would you most like to play as a video game? (please submit your answer in the form of link to an iconic image from that movie)Maybe not directly, but certainly the concept.

Do you think the game community could be doing more to cut down on harassment or unsporting behavior in general?
I think if rules were enforced against the actions in question, then yes, it would cut down. But without doing that, there are always going to be people who try and stir things up, and while some grow out of it, there will always be more to take their place. The best thing we can all do is ignore it.

What is the most memorable positive experience you had with a stranger while gaming online?I was playing Zombie Panic Source with some friends, they all got wiped out early on, and it was me and a few randoms left in the game. With the undead clawing at our barricades, we did an inventory, formed a plan and tried to break out of our predicament, one of our party selflessly chose to stay behind and hold off the hoards of undead, while the rest of us ran. When a member of our group was infected, he told us, rather than waiting for our backs to be turned when he transformed, sacrificing easy kills for our safety! It was like some totally cliched zombie film, but I don't think I've ever had so much fun, and got so into a game, with complete strangers as I did then.
I still play with some of those guys now. There's nothing like a hoard of ravenous zombies to bring people together!

What's the best game in your opinion - in terms of value/dollars ratio as opposed to raw quality - that came out this year? This year? Ahhhh, I'm going torn between Mass Effect 3 and Minecraft for XBLA. I've never had a really capable PC for Minecraft, so being able to enjoy it with friends who also would probably never touch a PC game was great. ME3 was a premium game at a premium price, while people have their complaints about it, overall, I'd say it hit the bar.
Honourable mention to Guild Wars 2. I've only played it at a friend's house so far, thanks to my PC breaking, but damn, for a poorly versed MMO player, but fan of fantasy RPG's, I like what I've seen!

If you could easily teach a thousand people one idea, what would it be?Just because you don't like a genre of music, doesn't make it bad.

Is there one game (other than Halo) that you can point to that really hooked you and turned you into a gamer? What was it and why?Oblivion. I'm a huge Lord of The Rings nerd, and generally love any similar fantasy, so being given the tools to carve out my own adventure, in this world was just fantastic for me.

What do you think is missing from video games right now?the Zebra Battle Wagon. Make it happen!

How and when did you first fall in love with Halo?I had played Halo CE, 2 and 3 to completion and even played a good amount of matchmaking. However, it wasn't until I played Halo:ODST with it's detective styled campaign and amazing OST did I truly enter "Halo fandom".

I also enjoy the easter eggs present in all the Bungie made Halo games. I particularly like the crazed marine located in the ODST level, Uplift Reserve.

You can choose any one weapon, real or fictional. What do you choose and why?Anything designed and manufactured by Maliwan would be good.

What is the most memorable positive experience you had with a stranger while gaming online? The most memorable experience I had with strangers while gaming online was the designing and building of Think Twice with my pals A 3 Legged Goat, Godly Perfection and Jonzors; All who are people I met here through BNet's Private Chapter system. It's amazing what a group of like minded individuals can accomplish with a cool idea and determination.

Which movie would you most like to play as a video game? Ironically, The Book of Eli.

Is there one game (other than Halo) that you can point to that really hooked you and turned you into a gamer? What was it and why?The game that turned me into a gamer was Star Wars: Rouge Squadron. For me, gaming is a means to entering worlds that are unattainable in our reality. Piloting a X-wing star cruiser and destroying key Imperial positions was all a 7 year old Star Wars fan could ask for.

What's the best game in your opinion - in terms of value/dollars ratio as opposed to raw quality - that came out this year?Borderlands 2. The game has so much replay value. I can play it again and again without having the same experience every time.

What do you think is missing from video games right now?
Replayability. Too many games are coming out lately with a $60 price tag that's really only good for one 10-12 hour experience, and I can't help but feel ripped off.

Do you think the game community could be doing more to cut down on harassment or unsporting behavior in general?Yes and no. It's obviously a difficult and costly thing to keep track of, but I think it should be made easier for the community to leave detailed written feedback on troublesome users, and that said feedback should be taken much more seriously.

If you could easily teach a thousand people one idea, what would it be?The scientific method.

Is there one game (other than Halo) that you can point to that really hooked you and turned you into a gamer? What was it and why?To this day, my favorite genre is adventure games, and I can easily credit that to playing the original Legend of Zelda games on my NES and SNES when I was growing up. The storyline was simple enough for even a young gamer to grasp, but Nintendo really set the bar high when it came to open-world gameplay, and I think it impacted the entire industry, consumers included.

How and when did you first fall in love with Halo?I first played Halo 2 in early 2005. My brother got it for his birthday, we were both thinking 'what the hell is this, whats going on'. I played the game again and again until Halo 3.

Which movie would you most like to play as a video game? (please submit your answer in the form of link to an iconic image from that movie)Obviously the latest Star Trek film, that would be awesome!

Is there one game (other than Halo) that you can point to that really hooked you and turned you into a gamer? What was it and why?Hmm, either Grand Theft Auto or Star Wars Battlefront. Those games were both awesome online/splitscreen and never got old, no matter how many times you played them. This was before I got into Halo.

It was in 2001, when My friends dad bought him an xbox along with Halo, his dad finished the campaign on legendary, we only played the game on easy and normal, and we had so much fun.

I remember gettint together with 15 other guys just to play Halo. Those were the days that really turned me from nintendo games to Xbox games.

How and when did you first fall in love with Halo?
Halo 2 multiplayer - this was the first time I could sit in my living room with a friend playing against other people sitting in their living rooms playing with a friend.
No AI can beat the uncertainty and camaraderie of playing with and against real people.

Do you think the game community could be doing more to cut down on harassment or unsporting behavior in general?
To an extent, I think people playing multiplayer games in new ways, sporting or unsporting (HLG for instance) can be a breath of fresh air, a tamer version would be people playing purely for kills in an objective game.
Having to adjust your gameplay to outsmart them can be rewarding if you manage to get the better of them, alot of the appeal of multiplayer is the uncertainty of each game you play.
Verbal harassment on the other hand...

What is the most memorable positive experience you had with a stranger while gaming online?
The most memorable moments for me are when you're able to communicate and work together well with a stranger, looking out for each other and having a laugh (even when your getting humped) despite never having met is always a great feeling.

If you could easily teach a thousand people one idea, what would it be?
The encouragement to come up with new and creative ideas.

- Dawes, A little bit of everything

Do you think the game community could be doing more to cut down on harassment or unsporting behavior in general? If games are to be treated as sports, and that certainly has been happening, then sportsmanship must also play a part. The people who organize the competitive events have the duty to enforce rules that encourage good sportsmanship. More so, we should simple start muting -blam!-s.

Note: This is something I am passionate about, but I did not want to ramble and rant, so I tried to keep it simple. I'm also that -blam!- who says fighting shouldn't be allowed in Hockey....so take what I say with a grain of salt.

What do you think is missing from video games right now?
Bold, new ideas. Most developers seem content to "play it safe" and conform to all the popular genre conventions, making only a few minor changes to the trusted formula. I'd like to see a real game changer in the industry; a radical new take on gaming.

Spyro: Year of the Dragon. It was my first PS1 game. The setting, the scenery, the music... it was all so cool and dream-like to me. It's one of the few games that still makes me nostalgic, over a decade after playing it.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

I know I said I probably wouldn't answer these because of college, and I may or may not be late to class because of this, but such is the extent of my dedication. [/sucking up]

Assuming the undead cannot be cured (i.e. I cannot choose a vaccine), I would definitely go for some nuclear command codes and fueled missiles. Everybody knows that zombies travel in hordes, so you nuke all the major cities, apologize to any scavengers you just vaporized, and be content with a much lower zombie population.

What do you think is missing from video games right now?Awesome music. Seriously, I still have yet to find a game that rivals, let alone beats, the Halo 3 soundtrack.

Top Five MCs? (That stands for Master of Ceremonies, not Master Chief. Please answer in the form of five YouTube links.)I think this is what you're looking for.

How and when did you first fall in love with Halo?Halo 3 custom games (especially modded ones, but let's not talk about that. Achronos once got a tad uppity with me on said topic). I still remember when I got crushed by a dumpster held in place by a measly custom powerup. I was less than thrilled.

Which movie would you most like to play as a video game? (please submit your answer in the form of link to an iconic image from that movie)Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?!

Do you think the game community could be doing more to cut down on harassment or unsporting behavior in general? No. Cutting down on elitism would cause elitism. Naturally.

What is the most memorable positive experience you had with a stranger while gaming online?I actually met a few members who I would consider good friends now. Although they dropped of XBL, we keep in touch via email. The 6+ hour marathons we'd play on the weekends definitely constitute my best memories. And hey, they were strangers at first, so it's almost pertinent.

What's the best game in your opinion - in terms of value/dollars ratio as opposed to raw quality - that came out this year?I see you put "this year" so as to avoid 7 pages of "Halo" with the occasional "Myth" and "Gnop" mixed in. Oh, and the new Minecraft updates. Also kind of counts.

If you could easily teach a thousand people one idea, what would it be?Grammar. Or something noble like tolerance or love or blah blah blah.

Now I have a question for you, good sir. Did you actually read my entire post or just skim it? Furthermore, if any other member read my whole post just for kicks, you have my gratitude.

Deeper purpose. Imagine a game that, simply by playing it, raised $ for charity, modelled climate change, combed radio signals for signs of intelligent aliens, or explored novel chemical componds for possible cancer cures. If by playing we were able to create, to support, to explore, and to solve the challenges of our times, that would be... wait, are those stars?
