Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

I have PM'ed DeeJ requesting his assistance and ruling on the matter (which would be final based on my understanding of our chain of command).

I don't know if he sits at his desk waiting for PM's (I know that I wouldn't, I've seen at least some of the studio and there are far more interesting places than sitting at YOUR desk).

But I suspect that sooner or later we may get a review and a ruling.

OP: this is and was an interesting exercise. By asking and having this exchange in open forum instead of traditional PM, we can show an example of the process and be as transparent as possible with this instance. I suspect that some of our fellow members were wondering if/how seriously we take these reports and our methods and reasoning for following through on them.

So for the ninja and the community, thanks for this opportunity to show that there is a method to how things work around here. Even if you don't like it, or it doesn't work the way that you want, we do have protocols and we do follow them.

Thank you, Recon. I'm glad we can tackle this issue and see to it that all people have to obey by the rules. Like the constitution says, all men are created equal.

I was able to thank you for allowing/encouraging for this to be done in the open. I am not congratulating you or predicting that (based on my current view of the situation and my experience on similar events in the past) that you are going to feel vindicated.

IMO, no rules were broken. A conversation occurred, the conversation became heated, some members took the heat personally, but I did not see anything that violated the letter or spirit of the "Things that suck" clause of the Code of Conduct.

But, you'll get your request to the last stage, I wish you luck and hope that no matter how it turns out, that people who need to learn from the outcome are willing to learn the lesson of this process.

Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

Can this get locked? Recon already dealt with the situation. Now it's just turning into childish name-calling.

I haven't seen so much salmon since that one time in Nova Scotia....

OP, you will soon learn that the Ninjas have a lot of leeway in the forums but also that bobcast did nothing wrong in that thread. Bobcast would ban himself if he thought he did.

You derailed my thread. Leave or I'll report you again.

Doesn't seem like harassment to me. More like brutal honesty.

It's the best kind of honesty.

I consider these topics to be a private matter and should be dealt with by the people involved. For sake of transparency such threads are allowed. The Op said what he wanted to say and the master mods have given their opinion. Matters are now in Deej's hands.

locked.

We can stop posting, especially if we have nothing to add or discuss. I am simply waiting for DeeJ to get/read my PM and perform the review that is his part of the process.

If he has advice or counseling for the ninja, we will gladly receive, accept and do our best to follow it.

If he has advice for members, I can hope that they will be similarly eager to learn from this experience.

Either way, the "reported" moderator is aware, has made their statement, two Master Ninja have reviewed and given their opinion, the last step (since it appears that the complainant is not satisfied with any of those responses) is from our supervisor. His decision and statements can overturn those of the ninja, reaffirm them, or he can call us all poopie heads and we're back to shouting at each other like 3rd graders.

But unless someone has something on-topic to add, this topic is remaining open for DeeJ.

Why would you bother reporting someone that's in a thread that Moderators are active in?

That's like calling 911 while you're speaking to an officer because someone jaywalked down the street.

And why would you report someone if you're afraid of being a sheep?

Gotta be a troll.

Welcome to the Internet, everyone.

Keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times while the ride is in progress - which is always! A better warning would be to advise all of you to bring a thick skin. Discussion forums like this one are home to debates, disagreements, and are shared by people who see the world differently. Not everyone will be your friend. In my experience, a great tactic for satisfaction is having realistic expectations.

Our Ninjas are people, just like you. They volunteer their time to make sure that we have a nice place to hang out. I don't watch them like a hawk for several reasons. For one, I can't. I am too busy working to make sure that you have something good to read from time to time (not to mention other errands that are super-secret and stuff). Another reason is that I trust them. In many ways, they know the fabric of this community better than I do. Some of these venerable peacekeepers have been walking this beat ever since I was a starry-eyed noob looking for my Halo 2 stats.

This experiment is over. We hope you have enjoyed this exercise in transparency and full disclosure. As some of you have said, the best means of combatting something that you do not appreciate is to ignore it and move along. There is a lot to read here. If you find that someone just won't leave you alone, and that their desire to ruin your experience is inescapable, your friendly neighborhood Ninjas will intervene on your behalf.

For this, we should all be grateful.
