Okay, i really like Halo 2 and i dont have much to complain about. But i didnt like the bosses in it. In Halo its a war, the end of each level should include a large fight with some hard opponents. Not a single guy who is really hard to kill. The end of Halo CE was perfect, your driving through a large battle (Flood againist Covernat). In halo 2 it was a fight againist a boss. Which was easy but long. it took me a good 5 minutes of shooting the boss with a banshee before he died. What a waste if you ask me. PLease post if you agree with me.

NO Bosses in H3, stick to large battles they are better

I agree with you man. Halo is not about bosses, it's about the quantity of enemies MC has to fight and it's more fun that way too because in most games there are boss fights; but the main reason Halo CE was so popular is because of the gameplay with no bosses and the storyline and also big MC. It was stupid how Halo 2 was ended with a boss fight because in most games with boss fights there is always a boss fight at the ending for eg in Fable you had to kill this lord so he didn't end up reaking havock on the world and then there's Hulk plus spider man and again Doom1,2,3 also Return to Castle: Wolfenstien you had to kill a boss at the ending and it's all getting to the point that it's rare to get a good game without boss fights and i'm getting sick and tired of it. Yes, stick to large battles; they are deffinitely better and they are Halo.

there will be some kind of boss battle, its when ever you fight a character

halo2 bosses were both characters of some inportance
the heretic leader , all you had to do is find the real guy
tarterus(spelling), all you had to do was shoot him after johnson
if they were as simple as everyone else some people wouldn't noticed or feel like it wasn't worth it.

Gravemind will be a boss.

  • 06.24.2006 2:28 AM PDT

I like my noob flame-broiled with uber-l33t sauce on the side and a teabag on top.

How do you like your n00b?

the boss will not be gravemind (unless the arbiter goes to high charity for some reason which i doubt cuz is a death trap) the boss will either be the prophet or noone at all the last level could be litterally driving or runnin away from a wall of explosion. i dont know how they could hav very many lvls cuzin tha trailer there abt to use the arc so the first level will probably be stoppin the useage of the ARC after that there is not much storyline

Although i agree i didnt like the halo 2 boss battles...(they are still fun...but felt out of place)

they are kinda like a quote i remember from the latest batman...we start wearing masks and jumping off buildings so do they...so every good hero *MC/Arbiter* needs an antihero...aka Scarab, Heretic, Prophet, Tartar Sauce and any i didn't mention.

i like em but hated em...i just wish we could combine Halo 1 and Halo 2 into a Chi of perfect gameness...

I had fun killing the Prophet of Regret, I don't know if that counts as a boss but it was fun. Tartarus was one of the worst boss fights I have ever encountered in a game.

I would prefer to see more large-scale battles (remember the battle at the end of Two Betrayals in Halo CE, now that was fun!) However, if Bungie must do bosses they should play some Resident Evil 4 and find out how boss fights are suppossed to be done. The boss fights in RE4 were the best I have ever played in a game. The bosses in Ninja Gaiden weren't bad either.

you put in impossible boss fights and you get a lot of complainers from the people who play for recreation...

keep the difficulty where it was...and i gotta say i didnt have that hard a time with Tartar Sauce boy...

the P of Regret though was hard as hell on Legendary...with the whole elite guard chasing me down the whole time...

I'm good for a boss battle, but they should be hard, and they shouldn'r feel like fumping through hoops every time you get a hit on them. I think a good boss for halo 3 would be a really big, baddass hunter/worm creature, I mean, It would basically be a hunter colony, but bigger and a lot smarter; that would be a fun boss if done right.

Halo 2's boss battles are uncharacteristic of the feel that Halo 1 gave. The last portion of Two Betrayals, where you have to fight (or blast through on a Ghost =P ) all those Covenant in order to use a banshee, THATS the sort of fight I'd like to replace the ridiculous boss fights in Halo 2.

I did not enjoy (On Legendary, mind you) dying over and over trying to take down the Prophet of Regret in his FREAKING FUEL ROD CHAIR, and I did love cowering in the corner from a pair of holograms with the apparent ability to shove 32786 plasma bolts up my ass in .2 seconds flat. The Tartarus boss fight was just laughably cliche and annoying.

I do not look forward to anything similar in Halo 3.

And it's your connection that's slower than turtle sex.

In........................................................Out .

If they are gonna make another battle like the tartarus battle, at least PLEASE just put on some good music, instead of that stupid Mausoleum suite music.

now that i think about it i relaly did enjoy that two betrayals part..that was fun where the flood and Covie where fighting...sometimes i would just rush in and steal it before they started fighting...

but i do miss those i can only recall 1 significant moment like that in H2 where you walk into the room with Spec ops elites and brutes duking it out..thats my favorite part in the entire game...

I would like to see somthing along the lines of two betrayals but iwth 4 hunters...cmon that would be sweet ass...4 hunters...

Yeah boss battles suck hard. Especially in Halo2. Lets hope that Bungie know this too.

As far as I am concerned if you shoot an enemy enough times in the head they should die... Not be protected by some magic floating chair, or by some inexplicable energy shield.. Man those boss battles really make me mad.

"Now, you must flip the crab over and attack its weak spot for massive damage!"

Guess which system has and always will have bosses? The PS3.

Anyway, back on topic. I agree. Halo is not about bosses. Maybe having to face stronger enemies, but not like a boss sort of thing. The normal battle is still going on and whatnot.

Even though boss battles wern't that great, I always found it amusing to own the Prophet of REgret. And that feeling you get after killing Tartarus when your Duel plasma Rifles overheat. total ownage.

Mix of both would be best.

Halo 2 was a mix of both, So i skip the half that there are bosses because there no fun. I am saying that we should get rid of Bosses in Halo 3 so that all that levels can be fun like Halo CE.

How else could the Chief have killed Regret without a boss like battle?

The only other option I see is a cut scene.

I don't mind bosses... what drove me absolutely crazy was the "magic sniper rifle" at the end of Halo 2.

In the end, it has to do with feeling "contrived" and that finale really really felt contrived. I'd prefer it if there were many different ways to defeat your big bad-arse opponent. I'd like to use my noggin' to greater effect.

Sure you could gun it down the old fashioned way but it might be more interesting to lure it under some columns, and blow out their foundations to land on the boss... or to lure it in front of the main engines of a downed Human space cruiser or hey, why not get into that Warthog with your buddy and race circles around the giant flood beast while hitting it with the chain gun.

Boss battles are fun, like whenever you face a stryder in half life 2. But the boss battles in halo 2 sucked. I don't understand why we had to board a stationary scarab. The main point of the battle should be to take it down with big guns, and then later on find out on high impact halo or something that you can actually get on it somehow and kill the pilots.

I think a combination of boss and big battles is in order. Imagine fighting an epic battle, and then all of a sudden MASSIVE creatures, or robots come out of nowhere, and with some weapons or vehicles, you have to fight this thing as well as the huge battle, using a city's buildings and what not for cover.

I hate the boss battles where for some reason a random character is really strong for no reason, and you have to fight it.

A mythic member but I speak my mind to much.

It should have be carved in stone taht Halo should not have Bosses. Halo CE did not have them and it made the history books. HALO should be about epic battles and weapons to match.
