Subject: You're too old to be here, opinions?

So I recently had some thread posts and PM's with some younger members about being too old to be on this site.

Personally I think the demographic for Halo is older than teenager but I'd like to hear from the community about age on B.net?

Also for reference I am 36 and here's some recent gamer age statistics from Australia -
Average age for an Australian gamer is now 32...

LOL! YOu're never too old for video games, most of my friends are older than 25 and the oldest of my friends is 40 and he is not the only one I know, I personally don't think you need a certain age to be in a forum or play video games of any kind.

There's no age limit to enjoy games. The guys and girls making them are older than us(some of us) and we're all allowed to enjoy them.

I'm 18, been on here since I was 13. I honestly think 17+ is my desired demographic. There are exceptions of course.

Halo is deep, and what Bungie does it incredible. Anyone who appreciates it deserves to be here.

There are a few old timers here. Obviously mostly of the H3ITWP folks are older. Bungie is an older company, they have plenty of legacy customers, people that have been playing their games for decades.

Glad to hear it.

It will be interesting to see Bungie's new game(s) and the demographic they aim for. Will we see M15+, R18+ or PG13 etc?

Times have changed, no age is too old for video games or Bungie.net. It's going to start getting weird once my B.net account's age is older then new members real age ;,,,,,;

*waits for older gamer group to startup...

I know I've been playing since around Myth & Marathon so that gets my Bungie age way past Halo CE days.

I read an article about this sort of thing years ago and it was going on about how a 12 year old can lead a team of middle age players in a Halo game. This sort of idea is weird and entertaining at the same time.

Most of the people who are around from the early Halo days are in there 20's some into their 30's.

No, you can't have it. But thanks for asking!

I get a lot of silly comments on my you tube channel about being too old to be into gaming. Mostly I look at them with amusement. I was actually surprised, and pleasantly thrilled, by how many salt and pepper sporting gamers showed up to the Bungie meet-ups at PAX this year. I was equally surprised at how many people in my age group showed up to a recent midnight release, but it probably isn't as astounding as it used to be. Face it, most of the original console gaming crowd is well in their thirties and forties now. There's quite a few of us that are well outside of the teenage demographic, we just don't tend to be as vocal in online interactions as the younger set.

Nah, OP, you're right in the same age range as most of us old-schoolers around here. Anybody who says you're too old to be here or too old to be a gamer simply has a vastly inaccurate view of this community, and that's a fact.

The way generations are being brought up now I'd say in 50 years we will have 60 year old gamers etc. Wouldn't expect that to be common now though.

I think we will have 60 year old gamers in 20-30 years. OP is 60 in 24 years (sorry).

i'm pretty sure our generation will prefer video games to shuffleboard

Man I don't believe in an age and video games. I mean, the employee's at Bungie are probably all over thirty years old, yet they freakin' create the games! Games are made for fun and everyone's entitled to have some occasional fun, no matter what age.

Welcome to the town of "Diligence." I'm Mayor Due.

I don't think it matters at all and like others have said, it's our age range representing the gaming demographic. I'm 34 and my kids are 13. They also have accounts on here although they never post.

I sometimes find the humor in the flood to be a lot like my kids humor, so it's now a way to stay in touch with what their age group is into. It's odd how it all works out, but I'm glad we have things in common.

Gaming is a great way to bond!

Too right mate, I will be 60 in 24 years time. No issue with you posting that at all.

Side note: It is great to see all the responses in this thread from both young and old gamers.

Also in case any of the older crowd haven't seen this site before 2Old2Play, I'd be more active there but only a few of them are Aussies for matching up in games. Probably more of a USA crowd but I do enjoy the site/community there.

I'm 32 and i feel that video games are now a form of mainstream entertainment. Saying i'm too old for games is as ridiculous as saying i'm too old to watch T.V, go to a concert, read a book or go to the movies.
