In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Here, I made you a helpful chart.

According to your chart, it seems MOST people on Bungie.net are younger with the exception out of outliers like Marty.

Average age for an Australian gamer is now 32...

I guarantee that if you took Facebook games out of the equation, that average would plummet.

Sure a decent percentage but every 36 year old mate of mine is a gamer so maybe not as skewed as you think.
Oh, are you a member of the 36 Year Old Gamers club where you live?

Younger users who think video games are only for them have a very selfish viewpoint. Gamers come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. Do teens make video games? Are teens the best at playing video games? Is all game content aimed at children?

The fact is that there are disciplines, arts, and industries behind gaming that all exist in an adult world as well as a teen world. Gaming is cosmopolitan. Teens who say that older gamers should move on are simply perpetuating the mindset that is generally a generational difference.

I was a teenager when I first joined this community ten years ago. Like many, I joined shortly after Halo 1 launched with the original Xbox in anticipation of Halo 2 - to join in on the speculation, theories, and overall general discussion about the start of the Halo franchise.

I'm now in my mid twenties and still love it here. I think that age is irrelevant in terms of the community - however, you can usually tell which ones are younger simply due to maturity level.

Cheers

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Active 9/1/11, Heroic 12/25/12

Video games are no different from books or movies, you can be any age to fully enjoy them. This argument works the same way in the opposite direction too. People should be judged on their maturity, not their age.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

My oldest and best gamer friend is 66 years old. He's a good gamer, an honorable gamer, a professional jazz musician, and a married man. I am among the youngest in my unofficial club of gamers, and I am 21. You can not be too old to play.

I, on the other hand, am incredibly young for a b.net "old schooler" along with Hawkeye. You age really doesn't matter here.

Well, for some people, your join date does. But that's another subject.

Where's Recon? I need an inappropriate joke.

Nah, OP, you're right in the same age range as most of us old-schoolers around here. Anybody who says you're too old to be here or too old to be a gamer simply has a vastly inaccurate view of this community, and that's a fact.

No one should ever be afraid of looking stupid, so long as they are making a rational effort to expand their understanding.

I didn't realize there is an age cap on the internet. 35, here, and not too old for Halo.

Personally I think the demographic for Halo is older than teenager but I'd like to hear from the community about age on B.net?

Also for reference I am 36

To give a serious answer to your question, the average age of the Bungie community is "older than teenager", but not by much. It's around 21, give or take depending on the sampling method.

If it makes you feel any better, about 5% of our community is older than you are. :)

at first i thought that chart was a bit skewed, after thinking about all the screaming kids on multiplayer... i think its about right.
if 5% are over 36, i think i'm on the trailing edge.... 53

I'm not sure how you can be too old for anything, then again, I'm still a spring chicken myself, though I'm no Johnny-come-lately either!

Ask me again in another ten years and I'll tell you if I think I'm too old for games at 31 :D

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. Video games are for relaxing, forums are for talking. Neither of these past times have an age limit. I don't see any problem with being here when you're older except maybe if it consumes your life to the point where it is physically or mentally harming you or your family.

There's no age limit to enjoy games. The guys and girls making them are older than us(some of us) and we're all allowed to enjoy them.
The whole thing is just summed up to this single point. Hell, look how old Recon is, but yet see how loved he is by the community.

Is there a limit to how hold you have to be to enjoy yourselves? The answer is no.

Thanks for taking the time to inform us mate. Very interesting age demographics which I would have thought to be a bit younger. I'm glad to see the cross section I'm in.

That is surprising, I suppose though we have some oldies bringing up the average.
That's a substantially larger percentage than I would have ever guessed. I'm quite excited, to be honest, it shows a large range of ages to draw from in any given discussion.

I'll admit, the reason I'm still here is because of the community. Yes, Bungie has made some amazing games, but I haven't touched a videogame in what is seemingly a long time. Knowing that there is a large population of users with a higher age is very reassuring in the validity of this community.
