I actually feel the opposite from the majority of the community, OP. I feel like I should be older, considering what seems to be the tendency for the older members to be the most active and informed (inb4 age brings wisdom). I'm only 18, and I feel nearly ashamed of that fact. I feel like I am looked upon as a foolish kid, instead of as a fellow member of the community.
The idea that age is a factor in fandom is a double-edged sword. A lot of the posts in this thread seem to suggest that the elder members of the community suffer the most age discrimination, whilst I feel we younger members are looked down upon more so.
I feel for you guys, it is absurd to suggest that someone is "too old" for video games. Many people manage a life and still find much enjoyment from video games well into adulthood. However, I think age should have no relevance to how a community member is viewed, but instead have their dignity reflective of their quality of posts or support of the community or community facilitators (Bungie, in this instance). Anyone that considers age to be determinate of value to the community are the truly immature ones.

tl;dr everyone's either too old and/or too young to someone
