I dont know whos forum it wuz but somewhere I read that maybe the flood could have been used by the forerunners to use against evil "forerunners". Like a punishment for convicted felons or something like that...or the forerunners government wuz corrupt and evil and used the halos rings to study and contain the flood while they experiement with innocent forerunners. Like an evil government testing, Now assuming that humans are descendants of the forerunners then their sins would also be passed down to the humans..Going back to what Gravemind might be..in that halopidiea or what ever, it stated that Gravemind wuz created by other forms that could not be used as combat forms, infection forms. Assuming that Gravemind is a central intelligence for the flood, then he could possibly be like an ex convict forerunner used in a secret forerunner government experiment and now his is F**king pissed off at the fact that the forerunners "evil' government turned him into this ugly thing...

Ya know that dos make alot of sense and also alot of people say because the flood have regenarative abilities that the Forerunners where trying to find a way for immortality or to get a way to not get hurt.Maybe the flood where things used in a war? However then the infection forms probaly began to evolve and began having the life cycle we all know and love.lol.Then the forerunner would have to fight the flood while there enemys just got out of the way.A war between the forerunner and flood?100,000 year war indeed. But i think that the gravemind was a combat form but his brain was still intact and so he could try and fight it and the flood seeing how smart he was turned him into gravemind. But why is he so big.I mean forerunners probaly werent that big.I think the flood actually added thousands of dead flood to his mass to make him a "body".So this mean master chief had the sins of killing and gravemind is literally a monument to the masterchiefs sins.

That took alot of thought, props to you for that. However, I think that might also be reaching a bit too far. Whatever the Gravemind actually is, it has to be explained rather simply, otherwise it wouldn't fit in a cutscene. Good theory though.

U know what govols98130 ur probably right but in the game in might be stated in simpler terms or u gain that understanding as the game progresses u know. Gravemind just might be that...a bunch of combat form rejects that were smart...like a mastermind. thatz why they were not able to form as combats or infectious forms. Maybe if the parasitic organism sees that ur highly intelligent(when it infects u) then it can not form into what we all fight but as a result turns into a huge cluster of Flood....like gravemind. Or take this into considersation why do u think Captain keys was deformed into that big 'cacoon" thing? why didnt the other marines transform into that? Captain Keyes wuz an important "intelligence" source to the humans against the Covenant.

Yea maybe they just unleash the flood, let their enemys die, then use halo from inside the ark to destroy the flood.

That could be cuz the ark wuz the only thing that kept noah and his family alive from the flood. So there can be a resemblence in that nature to the halo storyline. but u never know cuz u can also use the term "the ark of the covenant". which held the commandments that God gave moses. So if there can be a resemblence maybe the ark is just a set of instructions to activate the halo rings....like a keeper of instructions that are holy. (well atl least to the covenant their holy) kinda similiar to were the ten commandments are kept. In the Ark of the Covenant.

Same thing happened with the prophet in Halo 2 remember...except he was attached to the gravemind.

the theory makes a lot of sense, but in the game i dont reckon theyll go into the specifics your coming up with, just that they dont turn smart beings into combat forms for one reason or another

but either way Gravemind must have something up his sleeve (tenticle) cuz he didnt kill Master Chier or the Arbiter....so whatever his presence or his origins are it is vital to the halo plot or else bungie would not have introduced him in Halo2

I prefer to think that Gravemind being "the monument to all their sins" refers to the Forerunner's sin of attempting to surpass mortality.

Odd though that he's speaking to the Arbiter and Master Chief when he says "your". In a sense he seems to be implying that his existence is a result of the action of either humanity or the covenant.... or both.

The question that follows is... how could it possibly be humanity's fault that Graveming came into existence?

Cause the humans are a direct result of the forruners if you ask me. Once again adding fuel to the humans are forruners theory.

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

Its " I am a monument to all your sins". Not "I am a monument of your sins."
