When Halo 2 Vista is out, do you think Bungie will kill ALL support for Halo PC by telling Gamespy to shut it all down?

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft makes Bungie kill Halo PC so more people buy Halo 2 Vista.

Maybe and maybe not.

Time will tell the tale.

Don't worry, Halo PC online will never be shutdown till the last player stops playing online. It's just that bungie will move all their servers to Halo 2 PC, plus a game company can't just shut down the online feature of a game, its just plain crazy. The online feature is part of the game coding, and they can't just make a patch to take out that code, its impossible, also even if they did do that, they can't force you todownload it, and who would download something that takes the online out of a game.

Also they can't come to like thousands of peoples houses all over the world and reprogram the game so it doesn't have any online anymore, that would be plain crazy. This is option number 2 for microsoft.

P.S.
Come on guys don't get lazy, make good posts alright.

Bungie can easily remove online play for Halo. They just have to say, "hey, Gamespy, shut down your master server".

See, all servers, dedicated or not, connect to Gamespy's server one way or another. By removing the master server, you have no way to see what servers are up and running.

I hope you weren't talking about my post. If you were let me explain why. I don't need to make long posts if it's not required.

Oh and don't worry I make my share of long posts believe me.

(sry if I used the quote thing wrong... I'm still not entirely sure on how to use that thing yet.)

Hopefully not.

I better find a way to get multiplater on my Halo working again if so.

u have to put [ quote ] in front, minus the spaces

so i put [ quote ] in front and [/ quote ], minus the spaces in them of course, otherwise it would quote me twice, box within a box get it?

ok youll learn soon enough, anyway, i really hope they dont shut it down, that will entice all the ppl that start with an 'n' to move to halo 2 to get to play anything. thats bad.

Or, you could just hit the 'quote' button after you click the 'reply' button. >_<

lol

If Microsoft shut down HaloPC servers.. I will post on these forums a link to a petition.. and tell EVERYONE to forward it on.

Therefor.. we have like 100,000 signed on the petition and we send that to Microsoft. ;]

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

But I don't think 100,000 people play PC.. not at once at least. The most i've seen online at once is 2463, around there.
I wish 100,000 people played it, because they wouldnt stop online support if that many people played. And if they do kill HPC online, they wont be getting my 30 bucks for H2PC.

  • 06.24.2006 2:27 PM PDT

lol

Yeah, but say if we make forums threads and threads on it.

Around 1,000 are on an hour. Id say how many unique hits? Maybe 4-5,000 in a day? Then we only need like.. not that many days.

Also the guys who like halo, and who dont play halopc. Like the xboxers on these forums. and the halo2/3's - but not just these forums. All the halo people around the world.. those that visit HBO too.. imagine. I'd reckon we'd do it easy

Yes I think its days are numbered. To be honest, look at Halo for Xbox. How many people nowadays do you see playing that instead of Halo 2 on Xbox Live? Not much in my experience. I predict it will happen with Halo PC also.

But........if Halo 2 PC turns out to be crappy (2% chance of happening), then I think Halo PC will still be alive.

Still, Bungie needs to give the non-Vista users more time to get Vista before shutting down the Master Server. It wouldn't be fair if they didn't.

i can't count the number of online games i have plaid, from EverQuest,to FFXI, to Halo PC,to XBL,and much much more, none of them have ever ceased support, they just let the old ones live, and moved the new ones to a new system(i.e. FFXI to the XBox360)

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

maybe someone could come up with a meta server the same way they did with aleph one

I doubt that they will bother to tell them to shut it down.
But they may. Bungie is a business focused on the money they can make, like any other business. If it comes down to killing Halo PC so that people are forced to buy Vista and H2PC, htey probably would.
