Subject: So Halo 4 is going to have Killcams ALA Call of Duty now.

If you can't beat em, mine em.

Yeah....

I wish Bungie didn't leave. Now 343i is trying to pander to the Call of Duty demographic.

So, thoughts?

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Melodramatic OP is melodramatic. You realise that killcams are only in Dominion, right? Plus this is hardly pandering to the CoD audience, it's emulating a feature which has been the norm for the FPS genere for a long time, and hardly affects gameplay.

What are my thoughts? I think you're an overreacting fool.

Oh my bad. See, cause I haven't ever seen another game that showed a 5 second replay of your death through the killers eyes. Please good sir, point me to a game that had this before 2007.

And BTW, 343i hasn't said if they are only in Dominion or not. If they have, go ahead and prove me wrong.

Not this again...

I know right?

Look OP don't spend your time complaining about something that has already been complained about. The bottom line is that if you don't like it then don't play matchmaking.

Also this needs to go in The Flood or the Halo 4 forum over at Waypoint. Not here.

In some of the Dominion game play they didn't even have it. You can probably turn it off or something if you are that pissed about it.

Yeah sure I didn't think the lead designer justified the reasons for having kill cam very well, but yeah if some people need to re watch getting killed by an assault rifle because they don't know how it happened then sure. Why not?

Thoughts:

1. I like the Killcams. you don't have to watch them if you don't want to and having the option to clarify "WTF was that?" deaths is a good thing.

2. Wrong Forum.

If you can't beat em, mine em.

I think it's that this compounded with all of the other Call of Duty aspects is what makes alot of people irked. And the fact that it is so identical to CoDs.

  • 09.22.2012 10:31 AM PDT

Well, it was already clear for a long time, that Microsoft wants to see some CoD players switch to Halo or at least play it alongside CoD.

Remember, Halo was published by Microsoft and CoD was published by whom? Yes. Activision.

Think about it.

I disagree, this is something Halo has been missing. Oh and 343 said it would be in "some" gametypes but not all, so we don't know if it will be in SWAT or MLG for example.

Meh. While it's cool to see what exactly killed you, I more often feel it kills an aspect of ambushes/snipers.

You know, gets a glimpse of some random thing near the sniper point, then scopes in and kills. Bam, now that guy's sniping location is ka-put because the person he killed knows exactly where he's hanging out.

But eh, never played CoD MP that much. Might be wrong in how much the above happens.

It's "kaputt" and yes, i'm quite concerned about killcams.

Killcams are fine by me. Game winning kill cams are even better. Glorifies those last second sticks and such to another level. The only thing wrong with cod is the shooting mechanics. Id say complaing about stuff like this is nit picking at its finest. If its all you have to worry about then your good.

I won't have any of that, good sir. If you won, you know that you won.

GOAT

What is wrong with kill cams..?

It's better than watching your body for 8 seconds as you wait to respawn. It's like people want Halo 4 to be terrible.

You're right op. Watching your body flail around after dying for a few seconds is so much more useful.

Well, they could always show other people in your team from over the shoulder, while you're waiting. That would actually be helpful.

Not quite. Some FPS games do make use of it, but it is hardly the norm. Killcams (when considered as a unique feature, rather than a spectator mode) are a relatively recent addition to the genre. The majority of games that make use of this feature contain strong multi-player components (though some variation does occur, see Fallout 3 and New Vegas). To say the killcam is de rigueur to FPS design is incorrect, though it has seen broader implementation as of late.

I think you're an overreacting fool.

Oh, personal attacks. Always cool. Aren't we going for the forums being an environment where people can share their thoughts, instead of one where they are criticized for them?

Halo 4/CoD

I think many people loose sight of the fact that games are entertainment. If people enjoy the game, and had fun playing it, then it is successful (regardless of what we individually think about them). Since the debate of "Are video games art?" was started, it seems that many have lost sight of the 'game' element of 'video games'.

That's one of the few things I really like about Call of Dute, getting to see the kill that won the game, it's always a fun one to watch whether I made the winning kill or was the winning kill or not. There's nothing wrong with kill cams, Halo petty much already has one anyway, when you die your screen pretty much orients on to and slightly follows the player who killed you...switching it up to seeing their perspective when they made the kill is irrelevant to the game as a whole.

Halo should have kill cams from the start. So many awesome things go unnoticed.

- It disrupts the flow.
- It makes you see your death again (which is pointless BTW).

As Sgt. Johnson would put it, it's the little things.

And, "Call of Dute"? Seriously?
Are you as old as i think you are?

There is a feature in Halo called "Theater Mode". Ever heard of that?

Uh no, it doesn't disrupt the flow of the game any more than what we have now where you're staring at your dead body for 5+ seconds while waiting to respawn. Again? What, you watch your death before you die or something? There is no "again", your health gives out and you see your character drop, that's it, a killcam is showing how exactly the enemy went about killing you from his perspective.

Oh know, I made a small typo and spelled it "Dute" instead of "Duty" the horror :O I'm so horrible, you should all kill me right now...seriously, dude? -.- I really think you need to work on your priorities mate...

Besides, the one gameplay clip I remember seeing with it had the same option of CoD...

"Respawn instantly, or watch the scene."

Yes, I'm a furry. And yes, I like men. So what?

Oh goddess...

This has been argued to death in the Flood already. It's in one playlist. Get over it. If that ruins your entire impression of the game, then I'm glad there's not a chance of running into you in MM.
