Ok, let's say that I found somebody that I want banned from my clan's server, but I can't rcon them. I don't have the password.

I have found the person on XFire, but they aren't an XFire user. How do I keep track of them so they can be banned?

Oh, by the way, I'd recommend banning this guy if you see him: rock-atreyu

Hey, I could take a screenshot proving that he was calling names and generally being an a-hole. That will work for now, but I still want to know how to track with XFire.

Can I search for players with XFire?

You can't "track" people in X-fire the way you're thinking. If you have them on you're list you can find out what games they're in.

Btw: I wouldn't "track" people if I were you, it's kind of creepy, and stalker-ish. And it might get you in trouble.

If they have x-fire just put them on your friends list to see what games they're playing.

But it is kinda creepy, in fact some guy once came onhere and posted that he was scared someone was stalking him via x-fire

Oh no, I don't want to do anything illegal or malicious. I just want to know if he's on my server without having to look all the time.

Basically, I just want to know his player number in my server so I can ban him or have the little bastard banned.

I may get rcon privileges, so it might not even matter anyway.

I found an atreyu, but not rock atreyu, on the Friends search.

If I found his Xfire ID, he probably would block my friend request anyway.

Thanks for the information, guys.

I asked this because I once saw a post about tracking ME=KING with Xfire, and annoying the hell out of the king tker until he went offline.

The post you saw about tracking ME KING was actually the very opposite...it was a security measure put in place by certain clans who wanted to stop impersonators...if you weren't on xfire, you were an impersonator.

The fact that this isn't your server right now, plus the fact that you don't have rcon for the server in question leads me to believe that you're in no position to ban people from the server.

You can't exactly stop them other than banning them outright from the server when they join. Don't track them online...that's not exactly something you should be doing to begin with. Besides, Xfire has a feature that allows you to change your screename, so simply knowing their SN wouldn't be enough...you need to know their profile name.

I would just drop the whole thing. It's just a game, and it's simply not worth the time, effort, nor the risk involved. No need to waste more sweat than the sweat on your keyboard and mouse.

As always me15ter, great reply. Thanks for the advice. I won't try and track him, his idiocy isn't worth the effort. As it is, there are about 3 rcon-able members on now, so he probably won't be there.

Can I add you to my Xfire? I am impressed with your writing quality, and I want to play online with you to see if your playing skill matches your writing. If so, I will consider myself pwned.

I can't believe I found this old thread. Thank Google, I suppose.

Anyway, I can track other players with a different program. Before people question what I'm doing with this, let me tell you that I only track my friends with it.

http://www.qtracker.com

That is about to change. I want ME KING's actual user name, so I can hunt him down and annoy him to the point that he leaves, preventing him from ruining another player's day. It might not work, but it's worth a try to me.

If no one gives it to me, I'll understand.

Now, as for the rock-atreyu kid, I don't even care anymore. I doubt he'll ever be back in our server.

This program may enable me to be alerted whenever someone who needs to be banned comes back in the server after their bannable offense by allowing me to track their name and beeping or coming on-screen when they enter. I can then alert an admin and have the situation resolved.

I intend to use the program in a helpful way only. The only person harmed will be ME KING, and we all know how much he has harmed us in the past. He's earned it.

On a side note: the Qtracker program itself is definitely a recommended download. It is the best server browser I have seen so far, beating XFire as well as Gamespy, and definitely topping the in-game browser. However, I don't think you can chat with it, so XFire is still the way to go in that department.

Well, how old is ROCK? The one I wanted banned is only thirteen, which explains a lot.

Please, don't bump old threads.

Xfire is supposed to be a way to contact your friends, record screenshots, join your friends game, join servers, whatever. It's not a program meant to keep track of people. Besides, if you banned someone, what the hell would be the reason you would want to keep track of that person from entering your server again when you already banned him? If you ban someone, then they can't enter your server again until you unban them, use common sense, please. I realize they can change their profiles, but then tracking them would be a moot point anyways if they were under a completely different identity.

First off, I asked a question, I did not bump. Rather than make this all over again, I went and found it.

Bumping would be a short, pointless post or something that actually says *bump*. I have experience with this from many other forums.

Second, he hasn't been banned. As I said earlier, I really don't care because he probably won't be back.

Now as for entering a server again after being banned, yesterday I had a guy change his name and come right back with direct IP. I think the autoban for the four tk's he did banned him only by name, not his player ID. I know that with rcon you can ban by their name or number in the server, but you would think that a name change wouldn't be enough to get back in after an autoban. It's too bad that I still don't have the rcon password. I do have my own server that I practice rcon with, though.
