I worked for Best Buy during the gamecube launch and the Nintendo rep. ( A NINTENDO EMPLOYEE ) said the Wii would be their last system and they would be a 3rd party game manufactorer only, after it. So they are here to stay, but no longer making game systems. Microsoft has Master Chief, Sony has Solid Snake and Kratos, and Nintendo has a fat plumber and an elf.
AH YES, because a random representative from nintendo knows all the plans that nintendo has for the future. people who do that sort of thing dont know jack. they are just there to do their job. the only actual information they know is rumors they hear at the office. if you believe him, why didnt you believe the countless xbox "representatives" that said halo 3 would release at the end of this year? or that halo 2 would release on the next xbox?
these representatives seem to have a way of going around spreading rumors that people take as though it came straight from an official source that is trustworthy. either that or people misinterpret what they say.
nintendo is quite clearly going to put up a fight this generation. last generation they were content in sitting back and being trampled. this generation, they have some truly innovative ideas that arent innovative just for the sake of being innovative, but because it can open up new possibilities for gameplay. the low price point, numerous high quality first party titles, and classic game services are going to keep nintendo in a better place than they were in last gen.
the thing is, you can buy a xbox 360 and a wii for about the same price as a ps3. this is a very good deal and is why I personally have chosen the wii60 stance. while ps3 and xbox360 loyalists on each side ar at each other's necks, the nintendo remains a rather neutral system. both the reasonable ps3 owners and the reasonable xbox360 owners see the nintendo wii as a nice complement to their original system.
btw, imo, windwaker was the best zelda game to come out in a long time. it was even better than ocarina of time! I think nintendo is here to stay.
IRT topic, the halo 3 will not really hinder ps3 sales terribly, but a nice xbox 360 + halo 3 + live combo for less than the price of a premium ps3 by itself is a nice deal and will probably draw away the casual gamer towards the 360 as well as parents looking for a system for their child. that or they'd go with the wii.
