After reading some of the reports from people that have played the Halo 2 multiplayer demo at E3, it seems the old Halo health bar has truly gone. The problem I see with this is that certain weapons like the covenant plasma pistol and rifle where more effective against shields. So most of us tactical players would use these weapons to drop the enemies shields and then switch to human weapons to finish them off. The extra depth that this brought to the original Halo game was one of the reasons that made it so good. Now with the health bar gone this style of tactical play wont be important anymore and the strategy of choosing the right two weapons for the job will no longer make a difference.

I wasn’t complaining I was just wondering if the tactical element of whether to use a covenant or a human weapon against your enemy will still exist. What ever happens I know the game will be great and after all there’s still about six months left to go before release.

I am deadset in saying that the health bar IS NOT GONE! The graphical representation of it has changed.

Almost everyone has said that after your sheilds are gone you can take a few more hits, but you die fast. HALO 1 was like that too!

i sure hope the health bar is still there. there was nothing more exciting than waiting for the shields to recharge with that one pitiful red health bar left, with plasma fire raining down around you. screaming at the tv, recharge dammit!!!

and then that happy WHUUUM sound and then time for payback, damn those covies.

i'm sure i read the health bar is still there too. just looks different, perhaps they will change the display.

I watched the few-second-videos so often at opa-ages.com and it just looked as if there was just little health because when the shield was down, there was still a blue bar left, then it turned yellow after a few more hits and then the guy died.
So I think that they played single-flag CTF with just rediculously little health.
They couldn't possibly take away the health bar. It wouldn't be realistic. Having shields but no health? Hell no!

Yeah, it doesn't quit make since, but I think its true. We'll just have to see how it plays in the game. Regardless of whether or not you can see the health bar, its still actually there...which is why it doesn't make since not to just show it.
