This is my theory on dual weilding.
Okay, In Halo 2, DWing was great, but too inconvenient. It was only a temporary thing. Only applicable at certain times. Not to mention every little thing you did made you drop your secondary weapon. Swap weapons, drop. Throw Grenade, drop. Melee attack, drop, it was ridiculous. In Halo 3, dual weilding should have these rules.
1. You can swap weapons without dropping your secondary weapon, like in H2 E3.
2. You can melee without dropping your secondary weapon. That was crazy. Why can't you use BOTH weapons to melee, or how about kicking?!
3. You can only drop the secondary weapon by either,
a. Choosing to (create a command for that)
b. Throwing a grenade.
Let's face it, you don't have three hands, so it's impossible, and unfair. Imagine this. On Live, some guy is wailing on you with dual Plasma Rifles, your sheilds are down, he tosses a grenade, and keeps DWing. It's not fair that they should be allowed to have two weapons out at the same time AND toss grenades at you.
So, agree or disagree?
1. Disagree. This takes away balance and takes away strategy from halo series. Everyone would just duell weild, after they run out of ammo, they switch to the dominate weapon. Halo isnt about only duel wielding, for those of us who dont like it, Bungie makes it balanced so Duel weilding has sacrifices. Switching weapons is an obvious one.
2. Disagree. Again you are forgetting about balance. Duel wielding is already dominate at close range, now you want to be able to melee with it? That's making Duelding above everything else. It would make non duel wieldable weapons at a huge disadvantage. A great example is the shotgun, it would basically be useless. What makes the shotgun great is you can shoot someon, melee them, and shoot them again with same amount of power. While if someone duel wielding did this, they would shoot with alot of power, melee, than lose one of their weapons, shoot again but with less power.. You see how the balance works?
3. Disagree. Duel wielding is about getting the power of two weapons to make it dominate at close range, while at the same time taking sacrifices at melee, swithing weapons, and grenades. If you were to give duel wielding all of that, you are making the game unbalanced. Halo becomes all about duel wielding in close range. putting those who want to only use one weapon at a disadvantage. It makes you think, should you duel wield for twice the power, or carry two weapons and use grenades? It's strategy, something you are trying to get rid of it seems.
The fact duel wielding is inconvient at times, makes it balanced. If it were convient all the time, it would make it too dominate.
