DeeJ says those who remain are the Iron Core. For some reason that made me feel good, like I belong to some weird cult. A cult that can't agree on anything or what we follow.

Actually since people take things extremely serious sometimes I have started making fun of my self and letting people make fun of me. I've grown up in a life where everyday people give you a hard time and make jokes about you. (all in good fun) So really things don't bother me, I have only really got "mad" maybe two times since I've been a teen, neither involving the internet. (By mad I mean actually rage on someone)

But yeah, This is one of the reasons I actually like being the butts of jokes, because it gives people someone to joke around with where they don't worry about me getting offended. It is one of my best characteristics actually, which is kind of sad... lol

Gamers are a passionate bunch.

I do not, however, suffer from any delusions that everyone on this website will get along.

Posted by: DeeJ
The fair weather fans have wandered off, and left an iron core of old-schoolers to hold court with one another. That doesn't mean that our interactions will be perfect.

These three points are really the key here. It's impossible to expect everybody to get along.

In the end, it is the passion that unites us all - in one way or another.

Long live the Seventh Column.

I really hope this is a joke... If not I feel like you really need to learn to be "nicer". I find life to be a lot more bearable when you don't need to be the "star" or to "prove" you are better than others. I actually enjoy hanging out with people who are "less smart" or "less cool" because I feel like a lot of them seem to be better friends then the "cool ones".

It isn't fun being that "guy no one likes" So I try to be the guy who changes that and is friendly to them. I don't see the need to "prove my self" I would rather be the nicest guy in the world over the coolest guy in the world any day.

Because some people are idiots and I like to tell them that. If they're arrogantly stupid and refuse to admit that they're ignorant, I have even more incentive to assert their stupidity to them.

I'm going to be 100% honest with you; I like attention. Everyone does. Growing up as an only child, I suppose I liked and continue to like it more than others. Back in elementary (primary, whatever) school, we had this system called "penalties". They were kind of like demerits only nothing but Parent-Teacher Conferences ever came of them. To get a penalty, you had to be given a one verbal warning, and then another, and then you would be given one (unless you, y'know, bit somebody or something). I got 200something in 180 days of school in the first grade, mainly from talking out of turn because I knew an answer and I knew nobody else would because obviously I'm smarter than everybody else in the room.

If I have a way to show people that I'm better than somebody else because they're acting stupidly and clearly and obviously ignorant of something, as long as I don't perceive myself as coming off as a tremendously huge dick for doing so, I'm probably going to point it out in an antagonistic fashion. Likewise, if someone tries to do the same to me, I'm more than likely going to respond to show them how wrong they are and fix the inaccurate portrait they're words have just painted of me. Which brings me to my second reason.

I like to be liked. Everyone likes to be liked, but I grew up pretty socially awkward, outside social circles and so I liked and continue to be liked more than most, I suppose. I had a grand total of MAYBE 2 legitimate friends from 1st-5th grade. And that's not even close friends, just people who, if I were to make a list of people I could technically call friends, I would be allowed to put on that list without violating the integrity of it. It wasn't even until the 7th grade when I bit the bullet and became class clown for a year with my sarcastic quips and incredible whit to become liked from a "that kid's funny"-kind-of-way. My point? Because of all this I take almost any opportunity I can nowadays to be liked (even though I'm a a well-adjusted socially balanced teenager with friends and a girlfriend to boot). Along with that, I tend to jump on chances to invalidate someone saying something harmful to my reputation as if they were stacks of hundred dollar bills. I don't like to be seen badly because, I suppose, psychologically I think that if I so much as fall off balance a little bit in my inexorable climb on the mountain of likability, that I'll slip back down to the depths of dickery and outcasthood.

So yeah, I argue with and fight with people on here sometimes because I like attention and to be liked.

I'm not an idiot. I don't make fun of people when I think, before doing it, that I'll make more enemies than friends reputation-wise. Likewise do I attempt to resist the urge to attract attention if I think it'll annoy too many people.

But at the same time, my filter is probably worst than most due to my affinity for attention and being well-liked.

Also, who are you quoting all throughout that post? Certainly, twas not I.

O I C. But yeah, lots of people like attention. It's just that I, unlike most, can examine my own psyche and figure out things that people usually can only tell about other people (I.E. why they act the way they act). I'm very critical of myself. That's probably why. But, at the same time, I'm nowhere near a perfectionist.

Not sure what point I was going for there. But I'm sure if you were a psychologist you could tell a lot from me in these last few posts. You could practically draw a portrait of me at this point.

Okay lads, knock it off.

Snipe, you quickly made this thread into a twisted psychological profile of yourself. Which for a momentary sidetrack in an attempt to justify ignorant behavior to maintain a certain likable standing in society is fine, but lets focus on discussion at hand.

How does it feel to have been put down by someone who thinks (or is at least acting like) it will make them more friends than enemies? I take a strong disliking to your wall.

I'm not being ignorant of anything or stupid about anything. I'm point things out about and, basically insulting myself. Your example doesn't make sense. You were just legitimately being mean (however satirically).

I guess I just miss getting along together a lot. I still see it, but sometimes I get the notion of a higher sect of users that have become close friends, and those members may look down upon other users. Perhaps that's just me, or maybe I'm right, I can't honestly say. The only thing I can do is come here when I have the chance, and talk about whatever it is you all are thinking about at the time, and I love every moment of it.

This place has helped me through quite a lot, the community means a lot to me. I've played more games that I've actually enjoyed with users here than I have with my real life friends. Ever since I played a couple games with DeeJ for a ride along, I've started to really try and play with the others here a lot more often.

Nowadays, I can't really play, there just isn't time in my life for that, but I do enjoy reading what everyone thinks, and sometimes giving my opinion on such matters. To me, in the end, this community is as strong as it has ever been. There is no doubt about it, we are a tightly knit group, and we will all be here to enjoy Bungie's next game.

I can honestly say that my stay on Bungie.net has been nothing but amazing. Due to the stand up job by the mods, and Bungie themselves, things go smoothly. But the real magic is in this community. Each Mailsack is filled with awesomesauce, and every (decent) thread has substantial posts within it. There is so much that makes this community amazing. The variety of it's users is only capitalized by the common denominator of our singular passion;

Bungie.

Don't forget why we are here. We are here because of Bungie. That has to mean something, right? It does. I shows that we are all connected in a way that we just can't change right now.

So, forget our trifles, they will always be there, ignore the insults and the snide remarks, the cynics are what make this community so funny. The sweet and sour of Bungie.net are just a part of it all, and it's just a part of our lives here. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Ya'll are great, so keep it up. I expect to see each and every one of you in Destiny.

I cant say that I have felt disrespected on this forum, ever (I didn't actually read all that - one needs to lear succinct writing, but I feel respect is the issue ITT). Nor have I really seen it outside of the flood, where I rarely go.

I have, however, seen what the user above me describes, with the social elite crowd binding together every so often, particularly in long standing private groups.

But, then again, private groups have different rules / purposes.

I enjoy magma.

More or less nailed it on the head. Of course people will just be people, there are some who just plum like confrontation.

Sometimes you read a persons post and even though you know nothing about them you think to yourself, the hell is this? Who's this guy? Who's he think he is? What, what, this is injustice. It's just a matter of how you handle it. Sometimes you'll feel obligated to say something, sometimes you'll just brush it off.

Either way, it looks like we're now the Iron Core. And in the end, we all are loving members of the Seventh Column. We may not see eye-to-eye, but, we all still manage to come back here and interact, so that says something.
