I've only installed the first halo patch and am a complete n00b. I DLed the 2nd one but haven't had time to test (install) it, willit resolve this issue? Sorry if there's a search feature, I didn't notice it.

Thanks in advance,

This is a known issue with 1.04. I haven't experienced it with Halo CE yet.

I think I may have a possible fix for the problem. I've tested it, but still not 100% sure its works. The crash is caused by keystone.dll and ksimeui.dll files. I replaced them with the same dll files from Halo CE and have experienced no crash since. If you prefer HaloPC over CE, then this may be an option for you. It would be nice if others would test this anyway :)

We think that it's to do with 1.04 not handling someone stealing your place as you join a game.

The fix on Gearbox's forums was to change the file extentions of those 2 dlls I mentioned above to .bak. This workaround killed any ingame chat but allowed you to play without the crashes. If those two dll files were infact flawed, then replacing them like I did should work for everyone.

Thanks, everyone. May try CE or replacing the files for pc . VRam, what are the major differences between PC and CE since you seem to prefer PC?

Its not that I like PC better than the CE version, its just that there are more games to choose from on PC as of right now. When this changes, I will prolly stick to CE. If you want just the two files to try, PM me and I'll send to ya :)

I have this problem too, and have no idea what a dll is or how to change em.

A DLL is a file ending with .dll. Unless you can't see file extensions, of course. Then it has an icon that looks like a green cog a and yellow cog. Anyway, you just need to copy-and-paste from the Halo CE folder to the Halo PC folder, and select to overwrite the files.

FYI, .dll=dynamic link library file.

somewwhere on the gearbox forums, there is a thread about switching one file or something that will stop the crashing, as it is an update in the netcode or somethin that gearbox did. Sry i dont know where it is but its there.
