Subject: Reach

Survive until the red dawn rises, when we have spilled the blood of our enemies.

It was never said to be Precursor; that's just a theory, since it seemed far beyond anything we've seen of even the Forerunners before or since, and the Menachite complex it was housed in was described almost like a temple.[/quote]

Far out people they were called fore-runners... *rolls eyes* unless 343i screwed up and made them 'precursors' now. >.>

Reach had lots of oil so they wanted to get there and do some drilling.

Something is telling me that you just trolled us good sir
Really? And what might that something be if I may ask?

You complain about people not knowing the lore, and yet you don't even know who the Precursors were? Wow.

I'm sorry, I thought precursors WERE forerunners. If I am wrong, I apologize, I had exams recently so I didnt even know about Halo: 4 until at least a month after I should have.

The UNSC knew Harvest was going to happen. They used it as an excuse to start a war with the Covenant, so they could distract the Insurrectionists and take oil from their planets.

Okay thats a down-right lie. If you actually read the books, the war was accidentally started at a meeting between the Brutes and Humans on Harvest. A soldier from the Militia stepped out of line and was slaughtered by a Brute infantry-man. That was when the war began.

No. I really don't read at all.

I really don't know if you are double trolling or just stupidly oblivious.

This just made my day if you were being serious.

Besides that, the first human casualty was caused by an Unggoy. Slaughtering the poor guy.

Yes I was indeed being serious. It was the short fat guy who kept complaining about everything being too hard. Also, I was trying to remember if it was an Unggoy or a Brute, its been a few years since I read it. Maybe I should read it again, my memory is currently failing me :\.

Why did the covenant want to take Reach so bad?? Am I missing some important detail or just thinking about this one too hard?

Reach was the single greatest military base the UNSC had.

Pretty much the entire planet was one huge, fortified, military base that housed most of the UNSC forces and armory.

Taking it out is just a good strategic move to seriously deplete the military strength of Humanity.

Why wouldn't the Covenant want it glassed?

The real funny thing is that even though he's posting what he thinks is a serious answer, he's still wrong.

Uh, mate, its in the bloody book :). Sgt. Avery Johnson trained the Militia along with another man he had originally worked with, who had command over Johnson when he was a corporal. First contact was made after some food transports dropped off the radar when they were making their way from Harvest to other ONI homeworlds, or worlds where the UNSC were engaging the insurrectionists. Blah Blah Blah, few weeks later, meet up with the Brutes was organised. It kind of... went to -blam!-. One of the idiots from the Militia was killed by a Unggoy... Then the war began.
