Is there a minimum amount of time one can be banned, or do the ninjas decide?

Would, like, a five minute ban be possible?

I'm pretty sure it's 3 days.

Oh. That sucks. I wanted to see if a Ninja could issue me a ban of less than an hour, just for laughs.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Short term bans are possible, but due to server-sync issues, it is possible that The Soul can get confused and re-ban someone if the ban creation/edit time, expiration time, and user access time are all very close.

A warning is typically far more effective than a very short term ban.

Erroneous bans (misclicks) can take a while to sort out due to the problems listed in the first paragraph.

Huh. So, at about what length of time does this become an issue? like a less than 30-minute ban?

Impossible to be precise. In order to know, I would have to test, and in order to test, I would need to ban/unban accounts at various intervals. Too much work, not worth the effort, and would not have any real benefit to know.

I understand that you're curious, but honestly, it's going to be one of those things that we're not going to have a clear answer for, and even if we did, so what?

Honestly, I don't know. I was just going to try to get myself banned for like less than an hour or something. The Flood is slow today.

A warning is basically a zero second ban.

You can ban yourself for the smallest increment of time known to mankind which is a picosecond. That would be the minimum.

-blam!-, I'll be your guinea pig, Recon. I'm curious and not getting a title anytime soon.

Anyway, OP, ban lengths can be specified by Master mods but the shortest ban for regular Ninjas is 3 days.

I don't always ban people but when I do I laugh uncontrollably...that's if I was a Forum Ninja.
