I'm just wondering if it was intentional to have Johnson come back to life in every level. Twice in some instances, I was playing the XBOX version and dident see anything. But I got the PC version recently (Playing with only a keyborad and mouse sucks >.< ) and noticed something. Johnson was alive. Then he was killed under a warthog. Next level. Johnson is in the back of the Pelican. o.O Next level. A grunt sticks him with a grenade. Later that level. He jumps off the back of the pelican. And I can see his corpse from the ledge. Was this intentional? Becasue its damn funny.

Think about it. The UNSC employs perhaps millions of men and women, spread across the universe, fighting the Covenant. The chances are pretty good that you'll see more than just one black sergeant.
Also, it's a gameplay thing. SGT Johnson suddenly 'reappears' in the next level, after he's died. But, the Master Chief suddenly 'respawns' after he's been killed too. If Halo was uber-realistic, then you would only get one life, and after you died, you could never play again, because your game would spontaneously combust.
Fun, no?
To get better at Halo PC, try playing the campaign on Easy to familiarize your self with the controls. Then, move up to Normal, then Heroic, then up to Legendary. This will prepare you for the bloody fragfest that is Halo Mac/PC Online Multiplayer.
Several of the Marines are mentioned by name in the level '343 Gulity Spark'. They are: SGT Johnson, PVT Jenkins, PVT Bisenti, and CPL Mendoza.
One of the other Marines is called SGT Stacker.
