It's a gameplay issue. While many NPCs are invincible in Halo 2, most in Halo 1 aren't.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

Not to get off-topic, but there is also Sergeant Stacker, Private Chips Dubbo, Private Jenkins, and Private Manuel Mendoza.

Going back on topic, I was playing 343 Guilty Spark one day, and you might guess who the crazy marine was... yep, Sergeant Johnson. It amazed me, even being knowledgeable about that tiny quirk. Getting off topic, again, if you throw a plasma grenade at the marine, it stands up in a cross-like way just a second before it explodes. Pretty strange, unless they are on tryouts for Football coaching.

is there a way to get Crazy Johnson to stfu?or do you just have to shoot him?(waaaaaaaay off topic) and also, Johnson actually says that you can hide behind him in the beginning of H2.just mentioning that, and wondering if there is a way arouind killing Johnson.(another off topic thing, both MC,and johnson have john in thier names.sorry, just had to point out something funny, and also mention that johnson doesn't have shields,he just has an infinite amount of blood and high pain tolerance :P)

It is kinda funny how you can make him die like a maximum of around 5 times through normal gameplay...that and the fact that escapes from the Flood's grasp AND gets off Halo before it blows up is pretty kick-blam!-. I don't know if either of those two great escapes are put into detail in the book, Halo: The Flood because I have never read them.

Also has anyone else seen the endin movie on Halo 1 affter you beat it on Legerndary mode? That has to somehow tie in with Johnson right? Also I su[ppose that we are on topic as long as we are talking abotu johnson, invincable NPCs and the Marines.

It's the same reason that MC can get killed by a banshee in Assault on the Control Room and still be standing in 343 GS. And I've had Keyes die at the very end of the T&R. Basically, glitches.

Sgt. Johnson is too awesome to die, even though...

:( I pity the fool who kills a Sgt. Johnson.

Nu-huh, in the PoA, if you attack anyone in the Bridge, an Invincible Sgt. Johnson trained to -blam!- you, along with about six other Marines who are also Invincible will assist him in ending you.

lol, I've pushed all of 'em into that little glass pit at the front without dying once. They were trapped and I was free to roam the bridge and smack as many dead bodies as I wished. If you even twitched twoards the pit, they would attack you because I accidentally stacked them, so one would shoot the other, then he would shoot the guy on top of him, then the guy on top of him would shoot Johnson, who would shoot the guy at the top, who would shoot you, and then you would shoot the one on the bottom, repeating the whole chain of events. I even had grenades and blasted Keye'es corpse down to them, but that's not a good thing.....

Yes, it's just a funny quirk in Halo. I'm quite surprised you haven't noticed this before.

And dude, you take that back. The mouse and keyboard pwns the gamepad.

Anyone else played the origninal Half Life? Sargent Johnson's like Barney, and EVERYONE knows that Barney got cloned hundreds of times in a freak cryo-genesis accident, and that from that the original Barney/Sargent Johnson gets invincibility/lots of extra health points...

According to other people's signatures, 98% of America has tried or is addicted to marijuana. If you are part of the 95% of the people who don't live in America, then add this to your signature.
