I know alot of people are assuming that the structure in Africa is the Ark itself. I don't believe Bungie would show us this if it was in their trailer. I believe the structure has something to do with the Ark but isn't the Ark itself. Anyway, back to my question, just what might the structure in the middle of the Africa be?

He has a point. Bungie never said it is the Ark.

Why would the Covenant have come to Earth.

Cortana says that they didn't expect us to be on Earth. They didn't expect us to be there because they didn't know we were there.

They came to Earth to activate the Ark, which is most definately that giant thing in the ground. It only has to be big enough to activate all the Halos, not to be one on its own.

I say that 15 miles is large enough to generate a hell of a lot of energy.

not to mention the earth itself...

They were probably just following a lead they got from a stone or something, thats how they found Reach, and Reach obviously didn't have the Ark on/in it

If you do enough research you can prove that the thing in the middle of New Mombasa is The Ark

It is a sports arena. They're going to settle it all with a game of football.

I don't need to explain my research to the forum, or you for that matter. I have seen pictures and documentarys where they have whiteboatrds with the words: "ARK ON EARTH"

I think it is just some type of Forerunner technology. We won't know what it is till we play the game. Hopefully, and it is looking like it is gonna be, Halo 3's campaign is going to be WAY better then Halo 2's campaign. Oh by the way with all the ships and crap around maybe the "great journey" is closer then we think?

The "Great Journey" is when all the Halo's activate.

Ouch, what'd I ever do to you? But that's what I figured you were talking about. They had that on that white board before the Halo 2 release, alot can happen between then and now, it's on the 2nd disk in the halo 2 collectors edition case.

Oh, well that's ok then, thank you for explaining that. But seriously, where's the Arbiter if that's the Ark? From the ending of Halo 2 it looked like that's where he was heading

He probably is, so the MC and Arbiter will probably meet up again.

Ya, but Bungie said that's about 1/3 the way through the game, you don't think they've had enough time to meet up yet if they're both after the same thing? I don't know, just thinking they'd team up rather than go in separate, it'd make good for co-op

i like the theory that the structure is an engine that would propel earth into slipspace to protect it from halo's effect

maybe the ark IS earth

hey, it's just as far-fetched as any other idea

Ok, thanks, but it seems kind of irrelevant, the forums about the structure that was slightly underground with all the ships hovering over it, not the structure in the background...

I think the structure is the ark but what happened to truth then if the mc is off that ship. wouldnt the threat be over if truth were killed. Unless maybe the gravemind or cortana really turns out to be the threat. There's got to be more to that gravemind thing. It wanted to stop the ring from being activated in halo 2 but what's really its purpose. My money is goin on that is the leader of th flood. Because right when the flood took over high charity it was there and the flood didnt attack it. I think theres more to him. But that structure no way could there be a halo in earth. that rings too big to hide inside earth. thats the ark i bet truth escaped to it as his back up plan to start his great journey when the humans destroy his ship when he arrives.
