It would be awesome if you could voice command your troops with your headset. Even though the computer would have to get use to your voice. Sometimes i would like maybe an ally grunt to clear the room with a sticky or something. Maybe them move in before me. Take out a certain target (Tank). Tell the marines to get off the tank! Change Subject. Giving the computer a secondary weapon or being able to make them dual wield would be cool. I would like to ride on the tank.

Voice commands are too... erm.. buggy.
It would slow the gameplay down too much.

Yeah voice commands pretty much blow in other games.

This wouldn't seem too Halo-y to me. Halo is a run and gun FPS, not a squad based FPS.

I don't think AI is that capable yet as to understand what you tell them through conversation. Then people will say all sorts of things that the AI doesn't understand or confuse it. For that to happen, the AI would have to have practically a human brain.

They would be awesome if it wasn't for... let me set the scene.

Rainbow Six: 3....

Me: Move!

Computer: Holding...

Me: MOVE!

Computer: Roger, Holding...

Me: YOU SUCK!

Computer: Grenade out!

*nade bounces off a pole*

Me: OH -blam!-

*boom*

Game over...

Hell no. what you are trying to do is make halo 3 a squad game and like war type. I hate those games. Just leave it like it is

odd.... I never once had any problem with voice command recognition.

Are people not enunciating correctly or is it the funky accents y'all? :)

I once picked up the Southern Drawl from someone I hung out with for a couple of weeks. That was pretty damn cool. Makes me want to go over to England for a year or two and see if it sticks.

Yeah, that would be cool but they would have to make it perfect and there would probably be some problems.

Do you think you can handle my gigantic COC?

-If your car could travel at the speed of light, would your headlights work?
-What happens if you get scared half to death twice?
-I intend to live forever; so far, so good.

Well if you've ever played GRAW, then you'd know you can lead your ghost squad with the D-Pad. I don't really like the idea in Halo 3 though. It's meant for action not recon. But you never know what Halo 3 will turn out to be until it's launched

You don't need to give them ADVANCED commands to where you can only survive with your squadmates, I'd just like to have SOME kind of control over them. Tell them to get out of the Warthog, get in, tell them to attack a certain thing, just simple commands, like the OP mentioned.

people need to stop taking ideas from other games and trying to put them into halo...Halo is unique, why -blam!- it up?

VERY SIMPLE!

D-PAD COMMANDS

Up: Advance / Procede with Mission
Down: Hold
Right: Cover Me
Left: Procede Stealthily / with Caution

simple, and it would work, if GRAW can do some amazing things with commands then Halo 3 can, its not like this programming doesnt exist....its out there AND Halo isnt coming out for another YEAR!

it would prevent Marines from spoiling your position to enemies, and would actually make them WORTH the zeros and ones that they use to make those God Awful marines actually fun to be around, as of Halo 2, they pretty much suck

If you used voice commands, you would have to spend like half an hour programing the system to recognize your voice.

the only commands i would want on a D-pad/voice command are:

GET OUT OF THE F***ING VEHICLE!

GET IN THE F***ING VEHICLE!

GET YOUR ASS IN THE NEXT ROOM!

SHOOT SHOOT HE IS RIGHT THERE SHOOT HIM!

I thought the marines were ok. Actually I liked playing the game over again, to see if I could do it and keep my marines alive. You did kinda have to babysit them, but then again, Master Chief is a freakin' walking tank. Marines aren't. I don't think they are supposed to be of any real help, unless you give one a rocket or a sniper. Then they're awesome even if you do have to babysit 'em. Unlimited ammo baby.

Halo didn't have it in the first..... not in the second..... why do we need it in the third?

Thw marines in Halo didn't need commands. They were good enough. The marines in Halo 2 however...
