Trolls = the most ignorant souls on the internet.

Kill everything and start anew. Maybe some of the elitism will die after that.

Against. It's completely unnecessary. Besides, what are we going to do when we want to read an old topic or guide?
They could make it a static subdomain, similar to what they've done with the halo stats.

As long as I keep my username and join date, I couldn't care less what Bungie did with my account. It IS their website after all.

I was thinking name, yes. Date, no, I believe this would violate the Clean Slate idea. Clean Slate should be about starting anew.

I don't see any reason to throw away 8 years of dedication to this website.

I would like to keep my join date.

I understand, but is the recognition of your join date the only reason for your dedication? Perhaps some type of accommodation could be factored in.. But that would still defeat the idea of Clean Slate.

Roll with the hits, not under them.

No, you can't have it. But thanks for asking!

Meh. Sounds like an awful lot of unnecessary work for the webmaster. It's a lot easier to add to an existing structure than to rip it to shreds and then rebuild a new architecture that still maintains only one aspect of the original architecture. Like tearing down a trailer to build a mansion, but maintaining one asbestos infected wall. A bit pointless, really.

Well this is an altogether terrible idea. It's one thing if you want to reset everyone's trust values back to zero and wipe out the old ban history. There's not much point to those actions, but it's something that can be done. But what happens when we are forced to recreate our accounts?

What happens to our fondest memories, preserved forever in the form of the Saved Threads?

What happens to our meeting places, the Private Groups that we've invested hours into growing?

Would you have all of this destroyed so thoughtlessly?

@Geegs30

Bungie is trying to make more people feel attached to a single account here in order to combat a multitude of problems. I think wiping everyone would be moving in the wrong direction.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

That's like the internet version of a public book burning.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Likewise. I have an irrational attachment to my account.

This.

Even though I have those horrible I's at the beginning and end of my name I've been posting here for years. I wouldn't even bother coming here if my account was removed.

I come for the Community that I've been a part of for a long time. If everyone got new names it'd be like a new place and I wouldn't feel the need to post.

We should know better, because we are better.

I do not want that to happen. I rather like my account.

Yes I'd be quite upset if I ended up having to make a new profile. The ones who stayed during the darkness of Bungie should be recognized, not forgotten!

Man of God. Fan of Bungie. Eater of many Jr. Bacon cheeseburgers.

No. However, I would like to change my name. I just don't want to make an alternate account to do it.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

Against. Only reason to do it might be to level the field for some kind of community event, and there's other ways to put the community on even footing that don't involve men in black suits with little blinky lights. Also, haven't we gotten hints that Bungie's got plans to recognize and treat somewhat differently their long-term community, while at the same time create opportunities where n00bs and Legends are on equal footing? Something Deej was saying in a mail sack recently, I think. Anyway, I trust Bungie to do as well as can be done... they've proven themselves capable and crazy like that over the years.

I know, right?
Jay acts like she's better than everyone else simply because she's a chick.
I hope she chokes to death.

Why would that even be vaguely necessary?
