A = Topic post count.
B = Chance of you posting.

I usually think that if there's a ridiculous number of posts, the likelihood of your post being noticed decreases respectively.

For example, what is the 356th post in the 'FAQ on Bungie.net Member Titles / Prefixes / Bar Colors' topic?

Or the 68th post in 'A question for you clods'?

If you know, well done you immediately ruined my point.
But if there are too many posts the likelihood of your post being unseen increases.

Yes, it would be a waste of time to try and get noticed when there are too many pages. I have ignored the many pages in between the first and last page of a topic because it would take too long to read and update myself with the discussion.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Id say yes. Threads that got huge before me signing on keep me from posting simply because usually super huge threads have run their course. I read the first few pages always and move on more often then not.

... Why not just say that? Things like that have no purpose if you're only using them once mate. Writing 101.

Anyways, I don't care how many replies a thread has. I don't really look at that- I look at the thread title and time of the last post, if any. I'll just post if I have something to say. Meh.

That can't be true. Don't you remember when Halo: Reach came out and every single person's post on the Reach Forum got a personalized response from Bungie?

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”

I like to read through the thread before replying, and that can be very time consuming in large threads so that sometimes does discourage me from posting.

Then again, I often do just jump in without reading anything other than the OP...but I'm trying to stop that.

Depending on the topic, I'll sometimes take the time to read through other replies before posting my own, to avoid redundancy or repeating what's already been said - again, it depends on the type of thread.

If the thread catches my attention the I look into it but I only reply once I've read the thread. There could be a thousand threads here but I'd only respond if there is something that catches my interest.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

Yeah, by the time it goes past two or three pages, it's likely that I'll be repeating someone else if I post in it.

No. I post if I find the topic interesting. By the time the posts start to get that large, the topic has started to change and other discussions have started to form. Join one of those if you want your post to be noticed.

Because it's so deep into the thread that people are already in aruments or conversations and everyone ignores your post even if it's factual/a good post.

If you wern't sure I was only referring to big threads.

If what I was going to say/contribute, has already been said/contributed; then no. But if I still have something to add; then yes.

No, if I feel like I should express my opinion I do, and if it's a good thread members will want to read the responses.

Yeah, but sometimes when you come in late reading so many posts is a bit overwhelming.

mah twitter

If it's my first reply, yeah. I probably just quote a good post from the first page.

I rarely post on big threads. It's already chaotic, and I'm sure any sentiments I could contribute to the discussion have already been introduced.

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

Ussually, most of my thoughts have most likely been stated on the issue and too many independent lines of thought have gone by for my to get a "feel" for the thread.

Still, I have posted in threads with double digit pages, so I'm not entirely opposed to it.

Chances of me posting again are slimmer, 'cause it'll probably go unnoticed and I won't feel compelled to reply again.

I too, get this impression from bolstering threads. I just read and move on and occasionally throw in my two cents.

If there are a lot of replies in a thread, I'll generally only try to post if mine will be at the top of the page.

Last post of the page syndrome sucks.

If it is a good thread then i'll read most of the pages, after all that is what the forums are for.

Well...

Usually if a thread has around five or less pages and/or is pretty active, then I'll post something if I have anything to say on either the OP, or the subject that the OP has evolved in to.

If the thread is amazingly long, and/or hasn't been very active in the last day or so; then I'll just post something about how when wiping, I like the "front-to-back" motion as opposed to the "back-to-front" motion.

So, yeah. Sometimes I help, sometimes I hinder. ;)
