Subject: Halo: The Thursday War.

Disregard Females, acquire currency.

It just released today, has any one bought a copy yet? It's a direct sequel to Glasslands.

I'm about 120 pages in and Travis just loves destroying canon. For -blam!-s sake she's so retarded that's she's even destroying her own canon.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I ordered it off Amazon on Friday. I thought I would get it today, but it seems not, so it should come sometime this week.

So Hood knew about kilo-five since they formed? I thought Margret put that team together to know you black ops. And last I checked ONI doesn't answer to the UNSC anymore. And how about marget and osmen talking in real time from half the galaxy away? Why didn't the UNSC use that during the War? Like when Reach fell? Last I checked it took awhile to send messages. Hell the Port Stanley is only about to get improved comms to send andhear messages in slip.

Ever heard of advancements made in the tech departement? You really think humanity stopped doing that in 2553? And it seems you have forgotten that the UNSC have recently discovered a cache of Forerunner tech and are already implementing it into theirs.

Hood's useless. I don't know why people view him as this amazing badass; in Halo 2, he stops Fleet Admiral Harper from engaging Regret's fleet, allowing them to board and plant bombs on the Orbital Stations. Furthermore, if it hadn't been for Miranda's insistance he would have prevented her chasing after Regret.

In Halo 3, his strike on Truth's keyship is a pathetic failure. Then he opposes the motion to go through the Portal to the Ark, and stays at Earth - he doesn't hinder the Gravemind's passing through the Portal, and doesn't send reinforcements through later, after it becomes clear Earth isn't under threat. He's incompetent, and it doesn't surprise me in the least that he's only a puppet of Parangosky.

Forerunner technology - probably wasn't perfected until Vergil and other Huragok lent their assistance.

how is it an assumption when Margret said her self that kilo-five would be undermining hood whole plan for peace? I'm damn sure if your going to do something like that you wanna hide it from the guy your doing it to who also you know...holds the highest rank in the UNSC. Also I knew it! I knew one of you would pull the forerunner tech card. Your wrong there. Adj who Margret spoke to on the infinity said that they only worked on slip drive thus far and then after that would start work on the comms. Also unless you tell me halo now has space magic I won't believe that whole its the future crap. The UNSC has to piggy back messages on ships entering slipspace . The UNSC cannot hear messages in slip, hell the first time its ever attempted is by Cortana but that was using covie tech and not UNSC. So the only way that they've could have spoken was via normal which you know is a whole lot damn slower then something in slip.

The same reason why people like Rtas Vadum (who ran off from combat in almost all of his appearances in Halo 2): memorable quotes. Or merely the fact that he appeared in those games.

Capt. Keyes was way more badass.

Capt. Keyes was way more badass.

I was thinking about this, and I remembered why, in HGN, he got his jaw cut off by the Flood, hence why he was never willing to fight them.

He put himself upfront when it came to the Heretic leader, and became a coward due to the Flood.

"Go Arbiter, I'll follow when our reinforcements arrive"

He said that at least 5 times. Memorable. Also, Rtas had far more awesome speeches than Keyes.

So Rtas>Keyes

  • 10.04.2012 1:27 AM PDT

Well, at least we knew R'tas was actually doing something, even if it was only off-screen. Fair enough to Hood; he's old, but surely that doesn't matter when commanding the bridge of a ship? I mean, look at Cole's age, and he still kicked some serious arse.

I hope Hood dies and is replaced with a more dynamic UNSC leader.

Yeah at least Rtas did something elsewhere (in the graphic novel).

A true badass that man was.

Agreed.

Yeah he did have better lines. Writ of Union!

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

So 343i and Karen Traviss just basically took a giant dump on the hopeful and idealistic ending of Halo 3. Not cool, not cool.

Basically, though I don't place much blame on 343i, except for not running better and tighter quality control on the Glasslands Trilogy....which I am going to be ignoring completely and totally for holding Bungie canon in utter contempt, the official position may never change, but I am going to be completely ignoring it in my reckoning of canon.

This

I don't consider anything written by Traviss to be canon.

I got lucky, it arrived from Amazon.uk a week ago. No spoilers I promise.

I really enjoyed it - a big improvement on Glasslands, I would recommend it to anyone getting Halo 4 as it explains why we are fighting elites.

did you even read the book? right after they talk throught slipspace, they state how that would have been usefull during the war and that it was one of the forehuner advances.

I didn't realize this community wanted a Disney ending. I'd have expected a longing for a more mature, realistic conclusion than 30 years of bitter hatred being overcome through The Power of Friendship, especially since it was overwhelmingly obvious Halo 3 wasn't the end.

Dissappointing, to say the least.
