Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

As we all know the elections are drawing near and inevitably political threads will start to spread like wild fire. With such an important decision coming up on November 6th (vote or get Halo 4). Could we have one thread dedicated to political discussion? people want to talk about it and with one thread dedicated to the election, it would keep the fire at bay.

This is just an idea, but I thought I'd share it

How about an entire chapter dedicated to such things?

While I agree that people want to talk about it, I don't think it's a good idea to change the forum rules and allow political discussion. Why? Well, because quite frankly - while many like to discuss politics and the election - many are absolutely incapable of respecting others' political opinions and the hate comments come pouring in.

No, I say leave politics out of Bnet.

This is also just my opinion... but I believe the rule is in place for a reason.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

My future is certain, I will one day fly away. All because I am saved from the penalty of sin. I know he lives.

Political discussion can't be had here on B.net. 1/2 of the patrons here aren't old enough to vote, 7/16 of the folks have the same opinion and only 1/16 are willing to have a conversation not a confrontations.

It'll never work.

As for what the oP said:
But to the ones that can vote, no mater what your opinion is, don't only pick up Halo 4. Do both!

8/5/08 Bungie Favorites- NoEnd
7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

Politics discussed in an internet setting never go well.

So there is nothing we can do for the actual election day? I know politics are banned here, but seeing as this is such an important election, we can't even have a poll of who we voted for?

I wouldn't mind this. The problem is that you'd have to lock it to prevent a flame war. If it's locked it will only last a short while.

Unlikely.

This site has traditionally encouraged its members to be involved and active in their own elections and matters of importance, but it has not encouraged discussion of those topics on these forums.

I don't see any reason to change that unless our hosts have changed their minds.
