"I'm uncomfortable."
-True Underdog
Young Grasshopper of The Year: ChorrizoTapatio 2012

A little bit of sausage, a little bit of hot sauce, a whole lot of awesome. Have a question? Ask me!
Chapter

So, it's pretty common knowledge that people mature and change over time. That still is true for people, well most people, even here in the internet. So my question to you, community, is how have you grown/evolved/changed/etc as a community member?

As for me, I'm ashamed to say I used to be one of those stereotypical Halo fanboys asking for the haunted helemt (even bargaining with Bungie at one point) only coming here to check my stats, and occasionally coming here to post ridiculous spam threads that had no meaning at all. But then I started posting and making friends here on b.net so everything changed. I even discovered that private groups had their own forums, who knew? Luckily, I'm not that awful member any longer and I intend to find a great way to contribute to our incredible community.

So, what about you? How have you grown?

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

In my near-seven years on this website, I believe I can accurately describe my growth below:

2006; annoying
2007; annoying
2008; annoying
2009; afk
2010; annoying
2011; annoying
2012; mellow

I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

I really can't tell you.

I've embarrassed myself far too many times to list them all, and i still continue to do so. While i've "grown" and become "wiser", i'm still as silly as i was in 2004 when i joined this website.

I hope my daughter is a better member than i when she gets old enough

Inappropriate. Went a little to far with the butt hole tearing.

I used to be meaner, but now I'm soft and cuddly.

Who am I?

mah twitter

Well I don't get that many bans anymore. But I don't know if it's because I have grown or because I try to avoid getting banned.

Is this really a community you want her to get into?

I'm not sure. Hopefully I'm better then I was when I first got here.

I suppose I'm less of a troll, not that I was a good one to begin with anyways.

This was the first online community that I was exposed to. Looking back now I am impressed with the abundance of mature thoughtful members, which I believe is quite unique, who could easily thwart my attempts to cause trouble. These people weren't stuck up and distant, as is too much the car with such a tight-knit bunch, but were instead patient and engaging with the newbies. I eventually joined a couple of excellent newbies and started to follow their example.

I think one of the greatest aspects of the community is its support of its new members.

I don't always ban people but when I do I laugh uncontrollably...that's if I was a Forum Ninja.

Truth is a matter of perception.

I can tell you that my grammar has gotten better since I became more active on here, I learned rather quickly not to have terrible grammar.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

I've pretty much stayed the same, although I'm a bit more post-happy, and I don't use the game forums at all.
I've become more interested in the community and have slowly branched out to places other than simply The Flood.
I think I'm slightly more mature now, but I've never been one to troll or spam, anyways.
Ironically, I seem to break rules more often as time progresses. It took me a long while to receive my first ban when I first became active on the forums, and now it's more frequently.

I went back and looked at my first posts on this website one day, I was ashamed. It was actually shockingly bad. I was such a noob, who thought he was pro. I mean I remember arguing with a guy because I thought the AR was better than the BR.

Better for looking down at the little people.

I think I'm the same as I've ever been, just less replying to spam.

  • 10.04.2012 6:51 AM PDT

I stopped breaking rules, and I tried being more helpful and more interactive in the community.

So I've grown quite well.

Heh. Well, I made an account in 2008, I only used it to look at my stats. Then in late 2009 I started posting in the ODST and Reach forums. Yes I know I was a total douche back then. I really hate looking at my old posts. Once Reach came out I moved to the screw and have been here ever since. That may not be long - about 2 years but I've learnt my lesson, i've kept my threads in the right forums and have done a few things for the community. Heck I'm even proof reading my posts now lol.

And so the war of Gods and Demons shall begin. Tomorrow will end with your heart in my hand!

Love ya! =3

I joind three years ago. I can honestly say that I came for the stats, and stayed for the lame jokes. For the first year I would just log in every couple of days to catch an update and check the Comm Chatter. I made a group last year though, witch got me hooked. I would make our own Weekly Updates, though we are also in the dark right now, it really made me feel like part of a little community. Then I realized that we were just few of many, and I started really getting into the Forums and participating as an active member.
Now I'm posting almost every day and making Topics.

So, I can say I went from being the guy who just sat around soaking in oinfo about ODST and Reach, to the active Group Admin that filled our soldiers minds with barrels of news and(sometimes pointless) information.
To the participating Community member I am today.

I hit my last growth spurt somewhere around 16 or 17 years old.

So I haven't really "grown" as a member. I haven't really "grown" in 18 years...
