My halo disk has a small crack in the middle going to the outside. ( around .5cm)
I realy have no idea how that happend, maybe i used the disk too much....
The install went fine but i'm afraid it will break soon so my question is,is there a way to copy the disk ?

My copy is legal with a legal serial number.

Thanks in advance.

Give Microsoft support a ring. As long as you have the original disk and the CD key they should be able to send you another disk.

Yea. definitely don't use it until you call them. If you have a high speed CD drive that little crack could throw the balance off just enough to get the stress on the disk too high. if that happened then the disk would shatter in your disk drive. in which case, in case you don't realise, you would have plastic shrapnel all over the inside of your CD drive.

I live in EU,what number do i have to call?

EDIT : It's kinda weird if you call people and ask them for a new CD.

I believe it is perfectly legal to emulate the a CD drive and mount an img of the disc on it as long as you have paid for and own the actual game. That's what I do.

Oh lol that same exact thing happened to me after I hid my disk in my pocket to keep it from my brothers. I pull it out to see a rather small crack in the center of the disk. I thought nothing of it and continued to play it. Well day after day I watched as the crack slowly got bigger. Eventually the crack spanned from the inside of the CD all the way out half past the silvery parts of the disk. Once that happened it was toast and I just ran to Wal-Mart and bought a new disk.

So if I were you I would just save up $20.00 and wait for the disk to fizzle out. Until then get as much play time out of that disk while you still can.

Right. I had the same problem as well, I simply downloaded Alcohol Software and copied the disc. Alcohol 120 gives you a free 30-day trial, use that to copy the disc and emulate the CD drive. When the trial expires, you get to keep the disc images you make (the copies of the disc) on the harddrive (unless you copied it onto another disc), and you can then use DAEMONtools to keep mounting the image.

A note about DAEMONtools: don't install any of the free software that comes with it, just install the basic DAEMON emulator. The free software is spy/adware.

I copied my Mac CD to have a spare for backup purposes. I don't remember if I used "Toast" or "Disk Utility," but the backup works just like the original.

I have accidentally dropped a CD while rolling my desk chair and run it over, though thankfully not my Halo CD.

It's legal to emulate a CD you own? Then wouldn't people make 2 copies and distribute them?...

I'm pretty sure it's legal to make copies as long as you (1) don't distribute them at all, installing the copies only on your computers, and (2) you've obtained Halo through legal means.

yes as long as u dont sell/distribute them then it is perfectly legal, BUT once you DO sell/distribute them then I think you are commiting a federal crime.
