You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

I was a bit late to the party but I've been playing Skyrim, just finished the main quest yesterday, which means I've still got about a billion to go.My recommendation is to not complete every guild with a single character. Creating new characters and using completely different skills completely redefines your experience. After about level 45 almost all of the enemies you face are just a hair too weak or too strong so play around with the difficulty slider often. Also many people go from one place to another only with the fast travel feature. While this decreases the time you're not fighting and talking to people right after another, it's essential for the full experience to see the world and have those great random encounters with the creatures of Skyrim. Your greatest moments won't be completing the quests (even though they're fantastic), they'll be encounters where you find yourself battling a giant and a dragon at the same time. That's when you'll really respect the sandbox's potential.
I've been on an indie game drive lately. Humble Bundle 6 came out recently, and I'm hooked. Space Pirates and Zombies, Torchlight, and Dustforce really show what happens when you combine talented artists with risk taking game designers.
