Subject: Marcus Lehto leaves Bungie (again)

@spawn031

"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

Ah!

This is news to me. It's always great seeing him in ViDoc's, on twitter and updates on the Noble Actual Blog for Halo Reach. Well, it's been a good run for him. We can't always stay on the same road forever. Wish the best for him.

Call me a heretic, but I really recognize Lehto, but don't know his place in the place that is Bungie.

Anyone care to elaborate?

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Tis' a shame that. Seemed like a really cool guy, and he has obviously done a lot for Bungie.

Bummer, good luck Marcus in whatever you decide to do.

Per Audacia Ad Astra!

That's sad but show must go on, i hope that we'll see him soon involved on a new project. These last days we saw a lot of key people of this industry leaving their home-company like Cliffy B, Peter Molyneux and many other...that's life.

I just can't comprehend the fact that he'd leave again after shortly returning. I doubt he was fired, so I have no clue what happened. :(

Damn. Seems like all of the grizzled ancients are leaving :(

Marcus genuinely seemed like a nice guy. I'm sure he'll be missed at Bungie.

Listening to him on the podcast was great, he had lots of stories from the old days.

I wish Marcus all the best for the future.

Agree... I doubt any one from Bungie will comment. It's surprising, because if you read his twitter, he states he's hard at work on the game, doing great things, and like a week or two later, says that it's his first week away from Bungie again, it was time to leave, hopefully he'll make a new game etc.

What is going on with the games industry? So many devs and founders are leaving the places they helped create. I'm guessing Marcus felt that his game just wasn't getting the attention it needed and that Activision wouldn't support it anymore, because they need Destiny to pay off for bungie.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

Dayum, he was with Halo from the start, definitely wouldn't be the same game without him. He must be heading to 343, loljokes...maybe.

I'm sure he'll do just fine wherever he's going. Best of luck to him.

ISU Cyclones!

Best of luck to him. I hope that it was just a reconsidering of his original return than something... less pleasant that cause him to leave.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

Marcus Lehto, you must choose. Death or Exile!

I agree, he was in many ViDocs over the years and was a great guy to listen to.

Fac Fortia Et Patere

Wherever he goes, I hope he and his family do well. It doesn't seem like any of the recent Grizzleds have left due to internal disputes (for all we'll ever know), just either wanting to be closer to family, or wanting to join developers that are smaller. Not everyone wants to have work totally dominate their time, causing them to miss out on their family. And, Bungie is huge now. Some people like working at smaller places due to how intimate they are, or due to wanting a new challenge.

Anyway you put it, though, he deserves some (more) time off. Making Myth and Halo are huge accomplishments, and whatever he'll do next should be interesting.

Damn, all the grizzled ancients are leaving. Sad to see Marcus Lehto leave Bungie.

Good luck Lehto.

Damn, I always liked seeing him in the vidocs, he seems like a really genuinely nice guy. It seems that all the people I remember from the Halo 2 vidocs from the Halo 1-2 days are leaving. I hope there's still some familiar faces left for Destiny.

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

Well, wherever he's going, I wish the man the best oif luck. He did great things at Bungie, and I'm sure he'll continue to do so elsewhere.

Ten bucks says NO employees post in this thread.

I don't think they can disclose the reason behind his exit.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

Not good. I was really sad to see him leave the first time, glad to hear he was comimg back, and now even sadder to see him leave again. He almost hit 15 years at Bungie with the second longest employment next to Robt Mclees (and not counting Jason Jones).

I guess if he feels that it is time to move on, then I guess it's his time to move on. Best wishes to him and his future endeavors.
